885 SYNCHROMESH (1971 - 1980)
The synchromesh 12-forward 4-reverse gearbox became, in 1971, standard equipment on all DB tractors, except the 1212. The 885 superseded both the 780 and 880, taking the best features from each, including its availability in Narrow form.When DIN engine hp ratings were adopted in 1972, the 885 became 48 DIN. The DB designed and built safety Weatherframe was also introduced in 1971. The alternator became standard fitment in 1973.
