A higher speed range than the 950 Implematic made the C and D series an ideal tractor for the "one-tractor" farm. The same 42.5 bhp 4-cylinder power unit was employed, the diesel version only being available in the 880. In September 1964 both the 950 and the 880 Implematic models were superseded by the E and F series 880 Implematic with a new 3-cylinder engine.
A choice of 11/49 (high-speed) or 9/50 (low-speed) final drives gave speed ranges similar to those of the old 950 and 880 Implematic, but the high torque of the new engine gave a much improved lugging power.
