94' series 4wd components the same?
94' series 4wd components the same?
I want to convert my 1594 2wd to 4wd . Is this possible by changing out the front axle carrier/ nose and adding transfer box or do I need to swap out the entire transmission housing as well?
Will, say a 1494 nose and axle fit the 1594 frame/ engine housing?

How did you propose to fit the transfer box without a hole in the transmission housing?

So by the reply it would appear that it would not fit, unless you change over the complete transmission.
Re: 94' series 4wd components the same?
It appears the main frame components are different all the way through the tractor..
I guess I will need to find an entire rolling chassis ...
Better yet, I think I will swap it out for a newer 5240...

Well at least the transmission parts and axle assemblies are the same, all I need is the front frame section and oil pan for the 1594.
I'm going to call some salvage joints and see if they might have some parts.
It will cost around $12k for an entire 4x4 tractor with out a cab... so parts may be a better option.. buying a newer cabbed 4x4 that is not a tier4 engine has driven used prices out of control in the US and Canada.

Hi, you will need the transmission or part of it as the diff pinion on a 2wd won't have a spline on the end for the 4wd gear.

Crownwheel and pinion shaft are a matched pair
Re: 94' series 4wd components the same?
Hi you could run it as a 2wd with 4wd front end better ride, steering and loader work, ran my 1690t that way when it tock spline off front diff, would only make a difference in extream conditions or hill work never got stuck. Would like to do this on my 1494 2wd would improve it for loader work ect .
Re: 94' series 4wd components the same?
I was planning to use the entire trans from 4x4 doaner . Also it appears that the syncromesh trans has the splines cut in it as there is no different part for 2wd or 4wd only on powershift models are there 2 different part numbers ?
Re: 94' series 4wd components the same?
No, the bevel pinion shafts are not the same in 2WD and 4WD models. The following link shows that the that the shaft in a 2wd is ref 1 and in a 4wd ref 4 https://partstore.caseih.com/us/parts-s ... 9ar1286687 Please note that it is not the first time the Case IH parts catalogue has been wrong. A lot of important information's was lost when the literature was transferred from Meltham to the US. Perhaps the 1594 was sold as 2-wheel drive only in the US. Case in US omitted a lot of information's regarding models sold only outside of the US. One example is the European cab and the Q-cab on 90-series tractor. The only cab shown in the 90-series parts catalogue is the Case US cab and this cab was never sold in Europe.
Re: 94' series 4wd components the same?
The 1594 was sold here with 4wd also. I almost bought one last year but the seller did not know if the hydra-shift worked correctly or not so I never wasted my time on looking at it.
I have another question ; is the rear frame/diff the same on a 1494 ? The transmission section is , according to the parts book. ? I would think the 1594 was larger? And the pto system different? Because you can shift between 1000 and 540 on the 1494 and have to flip shaft on 1594??

Re: 94' series 4wd components the same?
The diff on a 1494 has 2 conical gears and the 1594 has 4 conical gears. The rear axle cage is different on the 1594 (stronger) to the 1494. The brakes are different between these models as well. The disc brakes on the 1594 is larger. In fact, the complete back end of the tractor is different between these two models. The PTO on a 1494 was a 2-speed unite with lever select for the speed or turn able shaft type, depending on order. The PTO on the 1594 was a turn able shaft type only. Do not even think sbout merging a 1594 with a 1494 or converting a 2-wheel drive to a 4-wheel drive, these models are different animals.
Re: 94' series 4wd components the same?
I just looked at a 1494 and its too different to even consider. SO... Back to the hunt for a 4x4 rolling 1594 .
Re: 94' series 4wd components the same?
Hi as i understand it the 1690 therefore 1594 & 1694 have the same back end as the 1410-1412 they were developed from.

You can set up a search on auctiontime to let you know about units up for auction
there was one up in Pennsylvania recently and one other someplace
distance usually kills the deal, salvage yards will kill you on price
I would think as nice as your tractor is to sell and go for a working unit, unless you want two
