DB 1190 - Hydraulic Oil Filler/Ram Seals

Post by Highland Pony » Mon Sep 03, 2018 3:34 pm

Could anyone tell me where to top up the Hydraulic oil on the 1190. I have an owners manual (re-print) but it doesn't provide a diagram.

Also, what type/make of oil would people recommend?

Finally, the tractor is fitted with a Quicke 2300 loader and on of the rams is leaking slightly. Can anyone advise where to purchase some new seals

Many thanks

I can't answer the other questions but for seals the best option tends to be taking them to a local bearing/seal etc supplier who will measure them up and provide replacements.

Oil filler plug is at the rear of the tractor, just to the right of the middle part there is a round plug with a squarish hole in it. Oil goes in there.

Thanks wheelbarrow, I'll have a look when I get home. What oil do you put in yours?

I thought that I wold no more take part in any discussions on this forum, but after looking on replies to these questions, I have decided to try to give the correct information's in a understandable format. Please read the following: "I am sure that the information about the oil filler and the recommended oil quality is mentioned in the Operators Manual, please look again. The filler is a plugged 90 degrees pipe bend in the rear right hand corner of the pto housing. The oil to use is Super Tractor Oil Universal (STOU) GL-4, with a viscosity of 10W-30 or 15W-30. The hydraulic system uses transmission oil in David Brown tractors. For the loader seal, Google Quicke uk. I am sure that there is an importer in UK for the loader".

I don't suppose anyone could post a photo or diagram of the Hydraulic oil filer?

It can not be that difficult, please use your eyes. Here is a link to a drawing from the parts catalogue https://partstore.caseih.com/us/parts-s ... 7ar1293233 Ref 2 is the 90 degrees pipe bend and ref 3 is the plug you have to open.
