me out for a run on the 780 we are draining her for the winter. ...no anti frezze... she sound good lol (needs the head done)

heres a db 780 we had since two years old. all that was done engine wise is a set of shells. the story goes like so ... many a year ago when my uncel ran here done feild after chirstmas (she was needed for the potatoe work) she was lieing up for 3 or four months she fired rite up and the rev was stuck on. before he could get off her to close her off she stop. so they towed her home with the 1690 and sand paperd the shaft and put a new set of shells in and thats all she got every thing apart from the engine and the gears is siezed.

there seems to be a plate for a 3rd gear handle but she only has two ? she is single speed pto

please any coments welcome

sounds like yours is a 6 speed, the plate would house the optional slow normal geras to make a 12 speed, i think you may have 770 pto unit on the back, being a single speed? or is this not the case?

Both 770 and 780 were fitted with a single speed PTO as standard but the 2 speed unit was an optional extra. The 770 and early 780 were both fitted with 12 speed geartbox as standard, deleted on the 780 in late 1967 but they retained the 12 speed gearbox lid casting with the lever hole blanked off as again, 12 speed was then offered an optional extra.
