David Brown "show"

Post by nevilleporter » Mon May 04, 2009 7:33 pm

here are pictures of our DBs along with some others brought by collectors and farmers around here. Peter Love came to do an article for Tractor magazine and also the forklifts and industrial DBs will be in Classic Plant and Machinery.
All these tractors and maybe others will be on display at Castlederg vintage rally, Castlegore Road on the 13th June 2009, Neville

Neville,
an absolute cracking line up of all ages of DB`s and the C word models. The three in front of your barn/shed are to die for. Could you keep us informed of the date they are going in Tractor mag, I suscribe to Classic tractor but not Tractor magazine -

Many Thanks

Andy

ps - if anyone can photo the line up in June and post some on the forum I am sure we would all be gratefull

Excellent show of DBs today at Castlederg. The fork trucks and the home built garden tractors and trailer added a lot of interest to your show. I'm no lover of big American Case machines but the roar of the Scania is something else.
Congratulations

Hey there Neville, sorry I missed the show, was too busy at slurry with the 1694 and 1800 gallon tanker. I notice a lack of a 1694! I must bring mine back to mount stewart this year, I had it there a few years back, the year all the DB's were there, it was the only one there, the one that kicked ass at the tractor pullin!! Saw your 4690 there, ANIMAL!

I well remember that day at Mountstewart, part of the manifold on the 4890 was broken which left the turbo not working, the tyres were too hard and it started to spin after changing down at the bottom of the slope and went no further,an hour later I watched your 1694 pull the sled to the top of the slope. The following year with the manifold fixed and the tyre pressures less the 4890 pulled the sled to the top in very wet conditions. Not sure yet what to bring to Mountstewart this year.
The 1494 2wd and 1594 4wd belong to 2 farmers from Castlederg

No DBs in any mag yet but there is an article in Classic Massey, July/ Aug 2009 page 58-61 on a grey Fergie that I restored that was photographed the same day.

I was talking to one of the main organisers in the club, this will be the last year it will be held in Mount Stewart grounds and will still be on 8th August, It will be moved to Greyabbey after that.

Any details of the Mountstewart show folks - I'll pop over for a chat and put faces to a few names... No tractor unfortunatley, that lives 150 miles away.

Im only going to take the red 990 and the 330 and small "cattle" trailer, also the Sharna 780 on the Navara and trailer.Leaving the Scania 143 at home- 3 hrs each way and £150 of diesel as well as loading and unloading and washing.

Ronnie Deering is doing a feature on starting tractors over the years, starting handles, donkey engines, petrol start, blow lamp, cartridge, pendulum start, normal starter and others, 10 different tractors with all different ways of starting them------ Ive decided to stay with David Browns!

Neville, you missed out a few other ways, tow start, jump start and bump start, or as we call it 'running off'. A horse always goes better with his nose down-hill!
