Irish David Brown 996 getting back on the road

Post by Jonathan Blackmore » Sun Jun 28, 2020 5:47 pm

Hi all

I'm reaching out to get some history on my David Brown 996.
I work a 24-acre hill farm and this 996 has played a pivotal role. I've had a few old tractors and had varying success with them. I landed on this tractor through my accountant, his father bought it in Thurles in the 1980s, I think it was a second hand English import and the owner never registered it here in Ireland. I have grown very attached to this tractor after restoring it and working with her over the last 7 years. Over the last couple of days of rain, I got her into the shed and did a deep service and tidy up. I need to get her registered and taxed. It would be a massive help if I could find the original registration and start the processes over here this week.
I'm much obliged lads for any help or info on this mighty machine. I have to mention Nevil Porter in Fermanagh https://www.facebook.com/Porter-Trailer ... 673998/for all the spare parts, trim and good solid advice.

The Serial Number is 995/6/11073006
the engine number is 455051 44560
There was a sticker on the bonnet saying supplied by West Cumberland Farmers see images in the shared image link below.

Im giving the link to Google photos so have a look and at a tractor I'm proud to work with and maintain Please visit and view.

Kind regards and thanks to you one and all for keeping the BD Brand alive and current. I hate it when lads say oh that's a fine vintage tractor you have there. If only they knew ..... anyway thanks, lads.

Johnny
