Hi all. I’ve just acquired what I think is an 880 Selectamatic. Attached is a picture of the serial number. I understand the AD3 means Agricultural Diesel 3 cylinder, and I’m guessing it shows 55A which I think means Selectamatic but I can’t understand the serial number 23694??
Any help is very much appreciated. The number plate is AWR 763G. Thank you

I think you will find that is the engine number. On the 880 the tractor serial number is on top of the chassis just in front of the radiator on the right hand side. Probably quite difficult to read if its had a repaint you may need strip some pain to find it. Search this forum in the right top of the screen for serial numbers and it will give you a link to the type, engine number and chassis numbers and approx dates of manufacture.

Great. Thank you very much. I’ve seen the post containing the serial numbers etc. I was clearly barking up the wrong bit of the tractor. Happy Christmas

The AD stands for Agriculturall Diesel and 3-means 3-cylinder engine. The 55 A brakes down into the dispacement for one cylinder (55 cubic inch) and the letter A means that the tractor has a two stage clutch with separate clutch plates for the transmission and PTO clutch. A tractor with the letter B has a single plate clutch. All mentioned is not related to Implematic or Selectamatic, the markings are engine related and not tractor type related. And by the way, this post should not be under "Members Photo Album" but under"DBTC Forum".
