1965 DB 880 3 plow diesel

Post by dbddiesel880usa » Sat Sep 10, 2016 3:06 am

I purchased this 1965 DB 880 Diesel as a winter restoration project. Apparently it was a model sold in the United States that was between the implematic and the selectamatic. The challenge will be finding the metalic chocolate brown paint that was used for this model.

I was fortunate to find an original sales brochure for it.

The tractor is more or less what we in Europe and other parts of the world knows as Selectamatic, but with the Implematic hydraulic system. The US importer at that date did not want the new Selectamatic hydraulic system, so they got a "mongrel". You will find the model and serial number stamped on the top surface of the front bolster on the right hand side just behind the bonnet skirt. For getting the correct parts, you will need these numbers and letters. The UK paint codes can be found if you click on "DB Colour Codes" in the left hand column on this page, if that is of any help. Many paint suppliers can cross reference many different colour codes used in different countries. I think the tractor model was 880UE, where the "U" stands for US only. The following link can take you to the parts catalogue for that tractor. http://partstore.caseih.com/us/parts-se ... 205ag53461

Thank you for the information. From what I've researched they used a metallic chocolate brown on this model and changed to chocolate brown for the selectamatic.

I have never heard about a colour called metallic chocolate brown. I would expect that the correct colour for the frame is the chocolate brown as used in Selectamatic tractors.

Is there a place to find out production numbers for this model?
