50TD at work

Post by John.Newman » Sat Aug 22, 2015 1:30 pm

Took my 50TD to a working day at a local farming property recently and gave it a work-out pulling a cultivator. First time I had it working hard enough to start discolouring the muffler.
The paddock we had to work in was about 70 acres. I have included a few other photos as well. Transported the crawler on my new trailer and towed with the Chamberlain 9G. A 2 hour drive and about 60km (35 miles) to get there.

HI
WOW! WOW!
1 - 70 acres = "a paddock"
:shock:
2 - What a piece of kit ! - is the front end a protective plate /guard ? Std DB ? -
I guess the normal rounded grille is behind that . Cooling issues in your levels of heat ?
?? Front end weights ?

3 - Impressive panorama to say the least - even from our "mountains" in the Peak district we don't get "endless" views like that .

Looks like pure fun and an outing to treasure.

Impressed +++.
Best

The guard in front of the grill is to protect the front mounted hydraulic pump and radiator as this tractor was fitted with a tool-bar type blade made by Conquip here in Australia. One day the blade will get tidied up and get fitted again. This nose guard and engine sump guard are both listed in the 50TD Mk2 parts book. The lower extension protects the hydraulic pump. Can not comment on cooling though as this was the first time I had it working hard as the black soil was heavy and the cultivator a little too deep. Burnt the paint on the muffler though.
