Hi does anyone know what the correct colours for the 990 selectamatic are? And is there a difference in colour codes with a standard 990? Thanks

The first Selectamatic tractors (1965 to 1971) had brown frame. white tin work and white wheels. Starting from 1972 (1973) the frame was orange (red), the tin work white and the wheels orange (red). What do you mean by "standard" 990? The colours are not dependent on the accessories but on the build date. The following link shows the specifications for the different colours together with the manufacturing year eatch colour was used http://dbtc.co.uk/index.php/information/colour-codes The tractor serial number is a good indication of the manufacturing year, please see the following link https://dbtc.co.uk/index.php/information/serial-numbers

There was also a 990 with Implematic hydraulics, manufactured before the Selectamatic hydraulic system was introduced. These two tractors have many differenses but non of them are "standard", they are just two completely different models. Implematic models had red frame and red tin work. You must differ betwen Implematic and Selectamatic tractors. The following link shows all different David Brown tractors manufactured https://dbtc.co.uk/index.php/information/tractor-range Please note that the last 3 links I have supplied are in fact taking you to different pages of the David Brown Tractor Club. You can get a lot of informations by just visiting the different pages and forums found under the Club home page.

Slightly confusing about the first Selectamatic tractors having brown frame. white tin work and white wheels. The very first Selectamatic tractor to go on sale was the 770 and the first 1831 of these tractors were sprayed in the same livery as the Implematic tractor range that preceeded them.

To add more confusion there were also 10-12 880 Selectamatic tractors that were sold in the red & yellow livery that was the colour of the Implematic range which preceeded them. The first photo. below shows one that was sold by Auto Palace in Llandrindod Wells in Wales on 8th January 1965. What is even more intriguing is that according to the serial nos. that are available the first 880 Selectamatic was made in October 1965 but paperwork attached to this tractor says that it was manufactured in 1964 ! Were these 10-12 tractors actually prototypes that were sold ? Auto Palace sold two of these red/yellow 880 Selectamatic tractors and I have been told that all 10-12 of them were all sold into Wales. The story at the time was that DB had too much red & yellow paint left over and decided to use it up !!
