Source for 1490 Radiator

Post by gwatts » Wed Jul 10, 2019 2:05 am

The radiator on my DB 1490 has failed and my local radiator shop is quoting me $900.00 to re-core it. I've hit all the sources I have to find a replacement. According to the Case IH website the part number I need is K304373, so far no one has a replacement. Would the radiator from some other model of David Brown be a suitable replacement, I can fabricate new mounts if necessary. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Contact Stuart at Barclay Williams in the UK - I spoke with them today via e mail. They have exactly what you are looking for (DB 1490 Radiator) at 325GBP - Thats a service exchange unit and they like to receive the old one before they will ship the new one out but, bearing in mind where you are they may agree to proof of shipping and allow them to cross in the post.

I don't know the cost of shipping but the total has to be less than $900

I know others located in the US have used them (search this forum) in the past for difficult to get bits and have been very impressed with the results and quick shipping (usually about 3 days)

Contact details : (They also have a website)

Hi a 1494 radiator is the same and a bit later, you may be lucky and get a good one from wrecking yards But it may need tanks off and cleaning and general condition is everything and cost, will the yard stand behind it for leaks ect.

I found a radiator for a 1690 that had been cleaned and tested for a fair price. The only difference between the two radiators is the 1690 has taller mounting legs on the bottom. I cut these down to the height of the 1490 and I'm back in business. Thanks for the suggestions I appreciate the help.
