I have never heard about a 990 with hand operated pto clutch. 996, 1210 and 1212 had hand operated pto clutches, all other models had a 2-stage foot operated clutch. But, the 990 successor, 1290, could have a foot operated or hand operated pto clutch. Some earlier 990 Selectamatic had a so called "clutch resetting" lever", but this was operating on the transmission clutch, not the pto clutch.

Some 990 Implematics and other models were fitted with a hand operated transmission clutch. This was marketed as an ‘ Over Load Release ‘ and was an optional extra.
Briefly— A cable attached to the top link released the clutch if the plough hit a rock or tree roots

In the UK the PTO hand clutch was an option on the 990 in the late 1970's, just prior to the introduction of the 90 series, however i cannot remember if it was an option on all versions or 4WD only. Certainly 990 4WD models (VQ cab, DB front axle) seem to have it.

This may explain why we did not have 995 4WD models in the UK (as a 995 with PTO hand clutch would be a 996).

Please note my comments refer to UK spec tractors only, as in other markets specifications & model designations may be different.
