Hi all
Has anyone got any pictures of the bonnet chin on a 780?

Mine didn't have one when i acquired the tractor, we are just in the process of attaching the new one but it looks too wide.

Any photos or info would be greatly received.

Henry

There seems to be 2 different type of chins, one for 770, 780 and 885 and one for 880,990, 995/996, 1210/1212 and 1410/1412. Please see the following link to davidbrownparts http://www.davidbrownparts.com/Bonnet%2 ... assis.html This is the link to the number one David Brown part seller.

:shock:I 'm not going to say I told you so......but......I did say in your panel woes post :)

I'd send it back and spend a bit more from DBP and cut down on the flying hammers and swearing. Replacement panels are very rarely a direct fit just some fit better than others. If you are set on using what you have you may end up having to cut it down the middle and re-weld it to make it narrower

I would try and do that on the tractor if at all possible and tack/ self tap or pop rivet it in place before removing it to complete the welding

If you google DB 780 there are loads of pictures there

They appear to have the cheek pieces set in slightly and the chin sticks out the same width as the bonnet top

There are a lot of parts sold on the internet and many of these parts are useless. Dubious quality or will not fit.

Thanks all.

I bought the chin off Ken Jarvis. I am going to the body shop tomorrow so I shall have a look at report back.
