Purchased a Cropmaster - Have a few questions

Post by fergusont20 » Mon Jan 28, 2019 2:08 am

Hi

I have purchased a what i believe to be a Cropmaster VAK1C with serial number P12868 manufactured in 1948 with a single gear stick

Image

I wanted a 2 seater and hope to be able to drive my four year old daughter around the lanes and to shows on it this year.

It has stood for two years and the engine was seized with standing, we have now free'd it and believe that water had got the exhaust manifold into cylinder number 3. We have had the tank off and washed both compartments out, cleaned out all of the carb.

There is no starter motor and no ring gear on the flywheel for one.

The registration number is on the back of the seat and i know this to be the original one from new, i also have a tax disc from 2000, but the previous owner cannot find the log book. I have checked on the DVLA website and the tractor is showing on there, so am i right in thinking if i send a completed V62 form and £25, then i should get a log book back?

My second question is that we have a 880 selectamatic with the green old buff log book showing the original registration number, i have checked the DVLA website but it does not show. We would like to get it re-registered with the original reg if possible, who do i need to contact and what is the cost to get an age verification letter created please?

Thanks Mark

I think that if you want to retain the original reg num on the 880 you have to show some official record linking the reg num to the tractor. If the green log book is showing the tractor serial number and the original reg then I beleive that should be sufficient to get a new record set up at DVLA, and get a V5 with the original number.

If you go for a letter of authenticity from the club, you'll loose the original reg and get a new age related number.
