My tractor is giving me problems with start up.
It had been starting Ok before a 6 week park up.
Went to start it recently and it would start then gradually splutter out. Now it wont start at all.
Any ideas what I should/ can do?

Have you bled out the air from from the system? If air is found, then you will have to find the point in the suction line (before the lift pump) that leaks in air. You also have to check that the bleed hole in the tank cap is open and that there is no dirt in the tank that is blocking the suction pipe in the tank. Dirty fuel filters will also prevent the engine from starting and running, but dirty filters will not crate air in the system as they are on the pressure side of the lift pump. A blocked air cleaner or intake pipe can give the same symptom.

Thanks Ollek. Have bled the system but not looked at cap vent or air breather. Will blow out fuel line. Filters are not very old.
I have noticed that fuel leaks around the fuel glass bowl but it appears to be full of fuel. Would this allow air in?

A leak around the glass bowl shows that the seal between the bowl and the lift pump frame is leaking. This will let air into the system when the engine is running as the glass bowl is on the suction side. Slightly loosen the thumb screw on top of the bowl, turn the bowl back and forth and slowly tighten the screw at the same time. This a old trick and will cure the leak if you are lucky. Fit a new rubber seal if the leak is still there.
