are you sure you have the correct eng no ,I have 3 croppys with a gear driven dynamo and all the eng no's start with Ag then a dash then 4 digit's,Eg AG/1553 which is 1950.AG/259 is a 1949 model.so if yours is AG/1299 then it is probably early 1950.I should add the G means petrol only.K means tvo.
At least that is my understanding .

P37093 would be july -aug 1951.if you look above the starter the eng no is stamped on the block to the rear

How have you obtained the serial number?
Does your tractor have a rounded or square front extension?

I got the serial number from the V5 document, but it is probably incorrect because the engine number on the V5 also appears to be incorrect. I have found another number by the gear stick-

The serial number was only on the plate on the dashboard,it was never stamped anywhere else. All other raised numbers relate to the castings. The information from DB Parts is correct.

Is it possible that the engine number shown reads AKA 2399 ? and not 2799

Were there ever any ID numbers like a frame or serial number stamped under the tractor in front of the gearbox but not on the sump. I seem to have a number on the frame in or near that area.

I have blown up the engine number in the picture provided. I can not see that it says AKA, it looks more like AK4. Scraping some paint off would make the stamping much clearer. The AK4 engine was introduced in oct/nov 1949 in a tractor with serial number 23751. The square front casting was introduced in april 1950 in a tractor with serial number 28000.

I have cleaned the casting and checked the engine number, it is definitely AK4 2799. So according to Ollek the engine was probably made 1949-1950 and the chassis 1950 +. So is it possible the engine is correct for this model of tractor ?

Can you supply pictures showing both sides of the engine?

I can take more pics if these are not of any use.

Although the serial number stamped on the block is AK4 the engine build and other components are for the early Cropmaster.
