1390 Transmission dipstick query

Post by Alchad » Thu Nov 03, 2016 6:27 pm

Hi,

Managed to lose the transmission dipstick for my 1390.

Searched on Ebay and there's 2 available, but both are part number K956099 whereas my parts manual says it should be K203608.

I suspect that there is a commonality among the rear transmissions and the same dipstick was used on quite a few models, but just wanted to check opinions as I'd hate to buy one of the Ebay ones and end up running with too little oil because the dipstick is the wrong length.

Any thoughts?

Also, if anyone with a 1390 could be bothered to measure the actual length it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Alchad

Hi, our 1982 1390 (headlights at top) has a dipstick with plastic handle, 12" overall length, 11" of metal, etched K956099. The lowest level is approx. 1/2" from the bottom, the top level is approx. 1" from the bottom (i.e. 1/2" margin). I think it is original. It is synchro and 4WD - if that made a difference.
