Does any one know the thread size for the track rod ends for the 990 ? I am wanting to chase the internal threads with a tap.

The 990 track rod I am trying to repair is a 1962 Imp, but I have some rod ends off a mid 1970s 990 and the threads are the same.

Been to engineering shop today, both ex DB Meltham factory tool makers and they could not identify the thread.
It is a fine thread, looks like an American Fine, but not ? :?:

It's a BSC thread - British Standard Cycle thread! It was mentioned some years ago, so I have done a quick search (and it worked!)

Here's the topic:

I bought a tap from these people:

Purchased the thread tap from the above Tap & Die Co. Nice chap to deal with and will be my next port of call when in need of thread repair tools. No other local engineer supply firms could do that thread, he can even supply with both left and right hand threads. The track rod would have been scrap without that tap :D
