885 Stop knob bracket

Post by rekabuk » Wed Apr 16, 2014 11:46 am

Hi All,

I've just bought a new stop knob and cable as everything is missing on my tractor. When I came to fit the know I found the bracket under the dash was missing too.

Does anyone know where I can get a bracket or are they easy to fabricate? I don't even know what they look like.

Any help gratefully received.

Andrew

The bracket Andrew is the same as on the 770 and 780 dash panel so if you can find one of those with the bracket still on it, which it should be, no reason why not, then you're sorted. I think it would be quite difficult to fabricate one and you'd need another to copy anyway.

No. an 885 stop cable bracket is different. It is a sort of box design set up. Same principle though. I will look for a picture.

Andrew, that's an 880 and it's in the wrong position, the bracket the stop control is on is for the (when fitted) radiator blind control. To determine which bracket you would need for your 885 we would need to see a picture of the dash panel, is there a hole in it to the right of the hour counter/tacho?

Hi,
My '72 885 must be one of the last in Brown, the decals don't have Case anywhere and there is no hole in the dash.
Thanks

Then its a DB "bottle-opener". The Stop is on the left of the steering column. Will photo mine tomorrow as bonnet is off as I'm fitting new tacho cable. Be Sunday evening.

Blimey. The DB 885 stop cable is on the right hand side. The Case IH parts website (pictured) shows it on the right (the injector pump side). The picture of the 885 shows it on the right hand side (along with a huge white arrow pointing at it), the instruction book shows it on the right.

Yes it's a "bottle opener" (I'd never heard of that before).

There are two small holes in the right-hand tank bracket which is where I guess the bracket bolts on.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these brackets or could I fabricate one?

You're best bet would be to source one from a tractor breakers you would then see how it's mounted, it will be below the fuel tank and if the two holes are in the bracket that's probably where it's mounted, inside the bracket.

Sorry, got that one wrong, it is RIGHT of the steering column... Not driven it for 6 month, only been using my 990 which is left. Both tractors have the same 'T' piece hook - Pull to Start- unlike the Red Knob type thing in the photos. Wait one whilst I try to load a photo......
