WOW, how this got resurected from 2011 is amazing. The idea of converting a 30C to diesel left my head once I found a complete 30C, Series 1, Cropmaster style tractor. Since buying it I have done the lot on it rebuilt the engine, clutch, brakes, various bearings around the tractor and seals then finished with a respray.
Then about a month ago a member of our tractor club listed some 30D parts for sale and some were free to a good home. I ended up with the generator/dynamo, regulator is on its way but the rare find was the hi torque diesel starter motor which after cleaning it up works a real treat and you have to really hang onto it when you spark it up. The only part I had to buy for it was a new "O" ring for the sheet metal cover. I have no use for it so one day there will be someone who needs it and I can offer it up to them.

Hi cobbadog my 25D has a slightly thicker spacer plate behind the engine that the starter bolts up to 3/8" and petrols are 1/4" so with a diesel spacer plate with the block everything would bolt up, the diesel starter does clear the block bump - distributor -hour meter-oil pump, block frame length from a 1949 Cropmaster to the 25D are the same at around 23 3/8", the fuel pump on side of block only came in on the 900 i think it is part of the injection pump on earlier tractors, the clutch on diesels has different colour springs probably heavier, otherwise a good swap. cheers Geoff

I think it would make the 30C lean over to one side if it was fitted. It really is one very industrial and heavy starter.
