I started my Cropmaster Diesel today and had a listen to the injector pump coupling - it has new rubber pieces and there's not a sound out of it. I had a Major and know exactly what you mean with the clickity-clack sound! My advice would be to see if you can get a new coupling - they're probably sta...

It'd be great to get some higher resolution versions of the cropmaster diesel pictures in particular!

Oldies but Goodies

Is there some way of enlarging the 'Oldies but Goodies' pictures on the right hand side of the webpage? When I click them they open the same size. Thanks.

Universal Hobbies' 1/16 scale models are absolutely fantastic and excellent value for money - in my opinion they blew all other model manufacturers out of the water in every department - detail, accuracy, price etc. They did make a brilliant 1:43 scale model of the Cropmaster Diesel - if they'd only...

David Brown VAK1 rear wheels and tyres,

Hi guys, I'm restoring a David Brown VAK 1 and the problem is that it has the wrong wheels on the back of it. I believe that the VAK1 had 24" rear wheels as opposed to the later cropmaster sized 28" versions. Do you know if it is possible to buy new rear tyres to fit VAK1 24" rims, or indeed 28 x 9 ...

RE: tank

Just check that there is a hole in the wall between the two tanks because what was happening to a tvo Cropmaster I had was that the tvo was making its way into the petrol tank through the changeover tap. I drained both tanks, filled up the tvo tank and shone a torch through the petrol tank to see th...

RE: cropmaster fuel tank

I used to have a tvo Cropmaster with that problem, and the tank, combined with the leaking fuel changeover tap that simply wouldn't seal was enough to make me sell it and buy a nice Diesel one instead. You can't really repair the wall between the two tanks. If you don't get a replacement tank, it is...

RE: Cropmaster Diesel Cracked Block

A replacement block is the only real solution - the alternatives are a disaster and will significantly devalue the tractor when restored.

The Implematic System

Hi guys,

I am restoring a 950 Implematic. Could somebody please post a picture/diagram of the hydraulic levers on the right-hand side of the driver's seat, and explain how the 'Implematic' system on the 950 works and what the levers do? Thank you.

CAV Injector Pump

Hi, I recently bought a David Brown 25D with a CAV in-line injection pump which has an overflow pipe from the bottom chamber. This pipe leaks a lot of diesel after stoppig the tractor. How can this be rectified? Is this caused by the lift-pump mounted on the injector pump leaking back into the botto...

Hi, I bought this tractor restored, but have since restored another Cropmaster Diesel and a 25D to the same high standard. I must post up some pictures of the 25D - it's absolutely perfect! All the brass, copper and steel injector and fuel line pipes and have been polished and lacquered, and it has ...

Paint technology has come a long way in the last seventy years! By definiition, if you are restoring a tractor to be a showpiece, then the most appropriate finish to replicate is that of the original Royal Smithfield 'show tractors.' That's why my Cropmaster Diesel looks the way it does! Two-pack, p...

Why can't you use 15W30 universal oil?
