Re: Selectamatic linkage bounce

Ok. If you think you are drawing air in, you could put a hose onto the rear camels hump tapping and run some oil into a clean bucket to see if theres air coming through with the oil. Dont let the gearbox oil level get too low before pouring the oil back in!!

880 selectamatic history

Does anyone know if theres a development/modification history of the 880 in existance as a single document? Ive got a list of around 50 changes/milestones that Ive come across but wondered if there was ever any sort of official log??

Re: Selectamatic linkage bounce

I also think I’m drawing in air on suction side( this improves on steep climb ) due to oil level probably. Not sure if Ive missed something, but if the oil level is low its probably best to fill to the top mark on the dip stick. If the oil is anything other than clean and clear probably best to cha...

Re: DB885 Starting Difficulties

Just for peace-of-mind, I haven't had the battery charger on it for 3 weeks. It's also stood idle for 2-3 days @ a time and started right up. Even on sub-20 degree mornings. A new battery is on the agenda for next week. Why a new battery? Battery sounds fine. Sounds like you may have had an issue a...

Re: 1594 Hydra starting problems - smoke but no fire.

If your intending buying a block warmer from the US, bear in mind that youll likely need to pay VAT and an admin fee to the courier to collect the VAT and pay it to the vatman. That'll bring the price nearer UK prices. Any warranty issues will be a pain with a US supplier. If you're thinking of addi...

Re: DB885 Starting Difficulties

I understand what everyone is saying about bad connections, bad wiring, worn brushes and so forth, but, if any of this was the cause, wouldn't it still occur even if the battery charger is hooked up? Correct. If your tractor reliably starts with a jump start or with a top up from a charger but loos...

Re: 1594 Hydra starting problems - smoke but no fire.

Still looking for a block heater if anyone knows of a EU or UK supplier that may help? Nobody got one for sale? Still putting off the inevitable strip down and going for easy options first. However, just thinking back to the glorious hot summer we've just had, it didn't want to start even in the he...

Re: motor oil vs 303 Hydraulic Fluid in trans

Ive read your comments correctly and am indeed struggling to understand what you are saying. 6 posts back you said STOU is the European equivalent of SUTTO and now youre saying they are different! You might want to google SUTO oil, as theres alot of suppliers saying its not only a transmission oil, ...

Re: motor oil vs 303 Hydraulic Fluid in trans

Ok. So SUTTO can be used as engine oil?

BTW whilst STOU is an acronym of English words, the order of the words is the French way according to at least one oil supplier. SUTO is the english language version:)

Re: motor oil vs 303 Hydraulic Fluid in trans

The STOU mentioned by db2d is the European equivalent to SUTTO. Are you sure? As I understand it SUTO(STOU if your French) is for engines and transmission. UTTO is for transmissions only, hence the extra T. If the S in SUTTO is an improved version for use with wet disc brakes then that doesnt make ...

Re: 1594 Hydra starting problems - smoke but no fire.

Really looking forward to seeing what state the pistons and rings are in, but hopefully not bad bores. I'm expecting a couple of broken rings and at least one valve out. As you say it runs well once started with little smoke, I think you may be dissapointed. Id get your injectors in the post for ch...

Re: 1594 Hydra starting problems - smoke but no fire.

If loosening one of the injector pipes makes no difference to the tickover, then try swapping that injector with one of the other ones and see if the fault moves. If the fault transfers to the new pot then youve got a faulty injector. If the fault stays on the original pot then you've got a problem ...
