Re: 880A Selectamatic Dump Valve

Might be worth sorting out why things arent working under external control as you might have problems other than the dump valve. I dont have a dump valve but my old trailer used to drop fine.

Re: lost part 990 selectomatic

Not speaking from experience, but Id be tempted to drop the gearbox oil and have a look with an engine inspection camera to see where the plunger has got to. With the camera in place so you can see what your doing, you may be able to fish it out with a magnet??

If you follow this link

You'll find a 770 manual that details cleaning the filter towards the back of the manual

Re: 780 replacement panel woes...

If you PM your email address I can send you a photo of an 880 back end. I can take a photo of the stop knob, but not sure what "goes through the dark" means??

Re: Nylon Filter in the By-pass Valve Plunger

Whether or not you clean the nylon filter I would guess depends on the type of suction filter you have and how critical a working set of hydraulics are to you. If you have an early tractor with a metal gauze strainer, then you wont get fine filtration provided by the later paper filter and are more ...

Re: Nylon Filter in the By-pass Valve Plunger

Cleaning the bypass valve filter was added to maintenance tasks in later versions of the 880 manual. Whether you do it or not probably depends on how well the gearbox oil and filters have been maintained in the past??

Re: 885 - Terrible Starter

Throttle may not be the correct term for the regulator, but its the term used in DB manuals so maybe worth sticking to "throttle" to keep chat using the same term as the manuals

Re: 885 PTO Engagement

If the PTO clutch isnt releasing it may just be stuck with some light rusting if its not been used for a while- the manual recommends operating the PTO clutch regularly even if the PTO isnt being used. Before you get too depressed Id start and warm the engine, stop the engine, hook up the PTO to an ...

Re: DB885 Serial Number Location

No sign of the elusive serial number. Grill off, torch on, back left, all clean but no number. Is it on a stamped plate? Found the Sekura cab number and the DB loader number - both in easily visible locations. If you look in the manual I linked to in your PTO thread, it shows you where the serial n...

Re: 885 PTO Engagement

If you follow the link below, you'll find yourself an 885 manual that should detail clutch operation https://sites.google.com/site/deerebrown/david-brown-info-ii As far as I know the 885 has a 2 stage livedrive clutch and there shouldnt be any banging in or out of operation unless your clumsy with y...

Re: DB885 Serial Number Location

On the picture you posted, drop down vertically from the number "885" until you get to the bottom edge of the bonnet. The serial number should be behind this point on top of the red chassis, just in front of the radiator bottom. Thats where it is on my 880. If you look in through the battery compart...
