Re: Leaking steering column DB 1210

Thanks guys. Sounds like a good plan to just order a complete valve and eliminate the possible pitfalls of trying to replace the seal alone.

Re: Leaking steering column DB 1210

Can that seal be purchased for replacement or is a new valve required?

Leaking steering column DB 1210

I was plowing today and started noticing oil coming out of the top of my steering column. It just keeps getting worse. Is this a simple seal that can be replaced or is this an indication that the orbital motor is bad? The tractor still steers normally.

Re: Source for 1490 Radiator

I found a radiator for a 1690 that had been cleaned and tested for a fair price. The only difference between the two radiators is the 1690 has taller mounting legs on the bottom. I cut these down to the height of the 1490 and I'm back in business. Thanks for the suggestions I appreciate the help.

Source for 1490 Radiator

The radiator on my DB 1490 has failed and my local radiator shop is quoting me $900.00 to re-core it. I've hit all the sources I have to find a replacement. According to the Case IH website the part number I need is K304373, so far no one has a replacement. Would the radiator from some other model o...

Re: Anyone replaced/simplified Selectamatic hydraulics?

I finally finished this modification today. I wish I had done it long ago. With the old system my tractor couldn't lift my 6 foot thrasher off the ground. Now it lifts quickly all the way up to the travel lock position. It also holds position very well. Once again ollek and cossyrec show us that the...

Re: Anyone replaced/simplified Selectamatic hydraulics?

Thanks ollek, I've looked at the spacer under my Cessna valve and don't find the plug you referenced but I understand what we're trying to accomplish here. I made a "power beyond" plate and installed it above the Cessna valve to power other hydraulic systems. I would imagine that I can just "tee" in...

Re: Anyone replaced/simplified Selectamatic hydraulics?

I've followed this thread with a lot of interest. I've had similar issues with the selectamatic chest valve and I've finally decided to bypass the chest valve and operate the three point arms with the Cessna valve as ollek explained above. My 990 has a bypass filter housing in the location that was ...

Re: New to the forum with a 780.

Good luck with the project. They can be trying and rewarding all at the same time. I've got a 990 and a 1210 that keep me scratching my head. But they outpull any modern tractor of the same horsepower. They were well ahead of their time. My 1210 was built in 1974 and still plowed 25 acres of ground ...

Re: slasher mower

I've not seen mowers rated by HP. I'm turning a 6 foot mower here with my 990 and it does fine. In deep grass ( 3 foot or more tall) I have to use low gears. I wouldn't recommend more than 6 foot.

Really nice machine work! No one would believe you if you told them how much time is spent building fixtures to hold the work piece! I always enjoy seeing others machine shops. Very nice

Power Assist Steering turns right not left

I found a PAS cylinder in a local salvage yard and installed it today on my DB990. Other than the water that must have been present and took me all afternoon to clear out, the only problem is it steers to the right but not to the left. I've looked around and haven't been able to find an exploded vie...

Re: 1394 3 point hitch, no height control

In several places I've seen the same technic for diagnosing a leaking hydraulic system. If your tractor has a 3-way valve, lift the hitch with a load attached and shut off the engine. Then move the 3-way valve operating lever to position 1 or 2. The lift will drop if the lift cylinder is leaking. Ho...

Re: By-pass Valve 990

Ollek,
Mine is an early version with the straight grooves in the valve not inclined. Thanks for clearing this up for me.
