Re: Front tyres for loader

Ollek, regarding the use of a counterweight on the 3-point; Is there a safe amount of counter balance that can be left hanging on the raised position lock while using a loader? Or is it better to not lock it at all while working the tractor (with a loader)? As an aside... a while back I asked about ...

Re: I'm Sure Someone Can...

Poppy, I know of a fellow in Oregon with two or three D-L 22 loaders. Long way away I know but you can never tell what kind of connections a fellow has. Example; I needed good, used tracks for a older D4D Cat, found pair in Oregon (no relation). Less than a week later I stopped to ask a neighboring ...

Dunham-Lehr 22. It is the model with only one cylinder operating the dump/roll-back function. Only drawback with the single cylinder is the attachment point on the scoop gets a workout.

Re: AD3/55 in an 885 correct assembly of oil filter

No implements really, just the front loader. Skid logs to a convenient location with a chain. Put a box blade on the 3-point just to add rear weight as the rear tires are apt to spin when backing with the loader bucket full. Once the logs are cut to length the front loader is used to load the trailer.

Re: AD3/55 in an 885 correct assembly of oil filter

Oil filters aside, cold weather will be here soon and tractor repairs can begin. First though, I have been gifted with and need to move a LARGE amount of quality red and white oak firewood. Tractor is earning its keep.

Re: AD3/55 in an 885 correct assembly of oil filter

In warm weather using the thermostart it starts fair, in cold it needs ether. No blow-by. When I first took possession of the tractor it flat would not start in 30f temps. On the occasion it would, it missed on one hole for a little bit. Pulled the valve cover and found one exhaust valve preloaded (...

Re: AD3/55 in an 885 correct assembly of oil filter

Hmm, a spin-on... one with a decent anti-drain back valve too. I love a good challenge. It's going to have to wait though, the thing has no brakes. And depending on a compression test results...

Which end of an 885's drawbar goes where?

Both ends of my drawbar have 1" holes. One end has two 1" holes about 9" apart. The other has a single 1" hole with two ~9/16" holes about 4" away and 2-3" apart. The 9/16" holes have a peculiar chamfer with what I guess to be a locating or anti-rotating hole located in the chamfer itself. Which end...

Re: AD3/55 in an 885 correct assembly of oil filter

How much more in diameter do you need? For what it's worth, mine fits the filter, but just. There was a sweet spot near the block end of my filter in which the spider was a decent enough fit to align the filter to the block. As a last resort, the spider is a pretty simple piece. One to fit the filte...

Re: AD3/55 in an 885 correct assembly of oil filter

How? I've no idea other than to guess it is from less than careful disassembly; If the "spider has a good grip on the bolt, the pulling of the filter over the "spider" could bend the legs. Took some fiddling (as in flattening the legs and snugging the center hole grip on the bolt) to get mine to whe...

Re: AD3/55 in an 885 correct assembly of oil filter

The four legged thing on the center bolt in your picture is what I have been calling a "spider", yours appears to be cupped as was mine. It needs to be flat so the fingers reach and center the filter. If yours is indeed cupped it may be the reason for the seal damage as the filter was likely misalig...

Re: Steering Feedback on 885

I had a D4D Cat dozer I paid $4500 for. Bought it with the undercarriage worn out but it lasted long enough to do a couple of dirt projects that would have cost 1 1/2 times what it cost, so it paid for itself. I traded the dozer straight across for the DB tractor knowing it needed the PTO clutch "fi...

Re: Steering Feedback on 885

No external leaks, dry as a bone. Oil was checked prior to first posting, the level is no more than a half inch (13mm) below the lid. Also before posting, using the front end loader the front axel was raised off the ground and (following the factory manual about not dead-heading against the limit st...

Re: Parts List For 885 Brake Job

I may follow your lead and take the reductions apart as most every component I've opened up on this tractor so far has been in need of repair.
