Visit to Britain / The Isle of Man

Hi all,

Next week, I will come over to Britain and the Isle of Man to visit the TT races. As I have 2 days (friday and saturday) in Britain to go from Newcastle to Heysham in order to get the boat to the Isle of Man, I have been thinking about visiting some historical David Brown sites as well.
Is there still something to see at Meltham Mills / Huddersfield? I read about a museum for clubmembers. (Although I’m not a clubmember (yet) :(, perhaps a good opportunity to become one ).
Are there some more interesting sites to visit during my journey from east to west?

And for you David Brown enthousiasts on the Isle of Man: “Would it perhaps be possible to meet and greet between the races and see a few tractors :) ?â€Â￾ If I’m right, there will be a show with tractors and stationary engines on Mad Sunday at Port St. Mary Ballacreggan farm, Station Road.

Best Regards,

Dieter

Hi Scooby, Thank you. E and F series are the first 880's with the 3-cilinder engine I thought, maybe that's when DB changed from positive to negative ground ?! When I look at the elektrical scheme above, I am a bit confused, as the startermotor (4) has it's '+' connector to ground, and the '-' to th...

Hi, I would go for the positive earth as well. I happen to have a spares book from the Implematic 990 and for the 850 / 880 / 950. In the spares book from the 990, you can clearly see it has positive ground. The regulator from the 990 is connected the same way as the regulator from the 850 / 880 / 9...

Hi,

In addition to my previous reply, it is indeed the engine type AD4.30J and the s/n 1772.

Hi Julian,

If it is the same spot as for the early 950, the serial number on the engine should be on the right side of the engine, just behind the startermotor, under the 2nd cover plate for the push rods.

RE: Re: Suppliers Main & Big End Bearings 950 3rd oversi

Hi Anne,

Thank you for your reply.

What do you mean by a workaround? Have you fitted smaller bearings which fit to the cranckshaft and them placed something between the bearings and the bearingcaps? Do you perhaps have a photo?

Best Regards,

Dieter

Suppliers Main & Big End Bearings 950 3rd oversize

Hi there, As you might have read before on the forum, I have a 950 with a seriously broken engine. Luckely, I've just found another engine which is quite good, but to needs new main & big end bearings. The cranckshaft has been reground till the 3rd undersize (0,030 inch). The company where I ordered...

Possible to fit a 4/55 engine from an orange 990 to a 950?

Dear DB-enthousiasts, I have a 950 Livedrive standing around with an engine that is almost completely ruined as the previous owner has fitted the pistons the wrong way around. The head is damaged, the pistons are gone, as well as the valves, the injectors and the bearings. As engineparts for the Imp...

Hi Anne,

The rebuilt looks good and oil pressure is very good. Nice to have the 1690 running around again in the neighbourhood :)

RE: Big end bearings to 4-cyl 880

Hi Erkki,

According to the manual, the crank has the following diameters:

Big End Journal: standart; 53.90 - 53.92mm. 1st undersize; 53.64 - 53.67 mm.
Main Journal: standart; 57.10 - 57.11mm. 1st undersize; 56.84 - 56.85 mm.

First undersize is 0.25mm

Tread oilsender 950

Hello, I would like to fit an oilpressure gauge to my 950, as I would like to see how the oilpressure is doing when the tractor is running. The oilgauge I have in mind comes with a sender that has 1/8 - 27 NPTF tread. The internetshop has some adapters for this sender; 1/8 DIN 2999, 1/4-18 NPT, 5/8-...

Information/Documentation for Implematic/ early Selectamatic

Hi guys!, As a new member on this board, first my regards to all of you. I've searched the site and the forum, great information. I'm not new to David Brown however, as I 've been driven them for some years now, but I never had 1 of my own. I learned to drive on an 770 Implematic, and do some tracto...
