Re: 990 Selectamatic hydraulic problems

First i would drain all the Hyd/Trans oil & see what the condition the filter (gauze) is in, if it's very dirty wash it out in Diesel or whatever you have, then put about 5Gal's of Diesel into the Transmission and as Ollek said take it for drive over as rough ground as you can stand for about 10 - 1...

Re: 990 Selectamatic hydraulic problems

Hi Travis; Just visit your local Walmart store & pick up two 5gal pails of TDH Oil (Transmission, Differential Hydraulic) before you do anything, do what Ollek suggested, flush out the Hyd/Transmission with Diesel, It's pretty near impossible to get all the old Oil & Water out of the Transmission ar...

Re: Handbrake repair DB 880 selectamatic

Try tapping the Pawl back into the housing against the spring, if it moves, it will allow you to get some penetrating oil into the hole & it may loosen up some, if that don't work drill a small hole under the Housing in line with the Paul's cavity, make sure you are behind the Pawl It's app 1" long,...

Re: Overide control lever.

That leaves you with only two options remove the Rollbar or the Ramshaft, is it the override assembly that's seized or is it the linkage?, when you move the 3-P-H Arms up & down by hand does the overide leaver move up & down with it or stay still.

Re: Trouble with David Brown 885 Lift

Yes it does. Never tried them, but when lever is moved back or forward it pulls engine down some. No pace for fluid to go I guess. I was thinking about that last night. Just not sure how to route some hoses. Would a person use the existing Ram and route hoses? I am in Texas. Yes you use the same 3-...

Re: Trouble with David Brown 885 Lift

Hi John;
I hate to see you give up, is your 885 equipped with rear Remotes? if it is, there is a simple fix, if you only need lift-Hold & Drop
What part of the US are you from?

Re: Trouble with David Brown 885 Lift

With the rear cover off & you pulled the Quadrant leaver back all the way, that flow of oil should stop, if it don't, it's properly the By-Pass-Valve (That's the one next to the Fender) not seating properly, remove the plunger then remove the brass screw inside the plunger, you should see a small wa...

If it's working OK it may only need a seal kit to repair it, Google SPAREX USA & under DB Steering & Front Axle you will find Pumps & Seal Kits

Re: 1212 oil leak from on/around lift pump?

The easiest and cheapest way to repair that is with a new Lift Pump, the diaphragm shaft seal is no longer available even with a new Kit.

Re: 880 flywheel housing

That PIN is a tool for checking the timing, if you look closely at the two holes in the bell housing you should see some raiser lettering (SP) & (TDC) (SP) Injection pump spell timing, (TDC) top dead center, if you install the PIN into any one of the two holes & turn the Motor by hand only, the pin ...
