Re: VAK1a bearing

Hi erikstenvall the old parts book was for a VAK1c so the OD of the bearing was different to yours, does your your wheel flange have a large nut or not like the later tractors. If you can find a bearing of the exact sizes i can see no reason why it will not work.

Re: VAK1a bearing

Hi on final drive input shaft the old parts book says 1 1/2 --3 3/4 by 15/16 wide two of but doesnt give size on output wheel hub shaft, all are ball bearings and everything is pressed together. A bearing supplier should be able to match sizes but db2d will have more information.

Re: Cropmaster engine and tractor numbers

Hi Gard the flat piece above the starter is where the number should be But if the block was a replacement one there would be no number relating it to a tractor, i have a replacement 950 block on one tractor that is not numbered.

Re: Cropmaster engine and tractor numbers

Hi on my 1949 Cropmaster there is just the engine number and serial number has P as a prefix, the later Cropmasters Super Cropmasters 30c 25 ect have three letter prefixes. The engine number on block on mine is near lower back corner of back side plate. Was good output for 1949 but i read that late ...

Re: Cropmaster engine and tractor numbers

Hi there is a list in The David Brown Tractor story book part 2 by Stuart Gibbard, tractor 18000 was 5/2/49 to tractor 18850 on 22/3/49 so yours was probably around mid to late Feb 1949.

Re: Gear Lever Rubber Boots

Usually large slip jaw pliers will remove the knobs or break them, put some old rag over them first if you dont want to mark them, plastic zip ties will keep the boots on same on leaver if rubber is loose.

Re: 885 Loader Removal

The rams on my loader made here in NZ are the same as loader in picture on this thread, there are many fitted this way, i was told it lessens damage to the ram shafts as they are out of the way not sticking out front.

Re: king pins

Hi cobbadog there may have been less movement when new but wear on the washers would make some movement, 3mm would probably be fairly normal i would think, could be reduced with a new washer or extra thin washer to suit. cheers Geoff

Re: 885 Loader Removal

Hi the loader appears to have hydraulic hose plug in bank on right bracket for removal, these can be difficult to remove if there is any hydraulic pressure on them, weight off rams then stop motor and operate leavers back and forth to release any pressure. Would think something in bucket to keep tha...
