Re: 990 block to chassis oring size

Hi jazo if you feel that you need thicker 0 ring section it is available in bulk in different sizes from good engineering supplies for making up large o rings for jobs like large pumps ect, they just cut off what you need. I got some from Front Store down here for a large pump to suit in that case t...

Re: 990 block to chassis oring size

Hi jazo had a look in a original parts book but it only shows the front seal and doesnt indicate size, i guess front and back are the same, how do they compare with the bits that came out they would be a bit flattened but may give an indication of original size. never had a later than Cropmaster blo...

Re: 900 front axle surprise

Excellent job like your workshop, guess it could also be done on 2 centers on a lathe using a drive dog if the threaded end centre was available but would still have to cut the new thread.

Re: 1690 Hydraulics

Hi it appears the hydraulics are able to work without the 2 valve balls and screen if they were ever fitted on 1690-94 models with lower link sensing, i know the diagram shows them but were they fitted ? or have been removed by someone working on the valves ? The one thing i noticed one can hear the...

Re: 1690 Hydraulics

Well the hydraulics were no different yesterday But today on a curly tyne cultivator worked perfectly for the first time in several years, didnt have time to look at the lower link ajustments but there are several in the manual to check, had put another locating bolt on the lower link as one was mis...

Re: Front weights

Hi cant see any problems with extra weight except heavier steering, there are 2 bar weights already under the front i think 30c have them will have to check they could be replaced with heavier ones or bolt more on front maybe a suitable weight bar so you could put weights on or off to suit. cheers Ge...

Re: Engine rebuild

Hi ollek my two were 1200 and 1494 no cups just bad valves the heads broke off them, have heard of others, replacement valves of any make never failed, its a good idea to replace the exhaust valves on any head job why risk it they are not expensive. cheers Geoff

Re: Engine rebuild

Hi do the starting issues relate to engine condition, does it run good when started ie- oil use-- motor fuming --hard starting can be lack of fuel --fuel pump or kit, is it hard starting in hot or cold conditions --with excess fuel start on ect . These motors have to be really bad and worn out before...

Re: 1690 Hydraulics

Hi jazo yes its a 1690t lower link sensing, all the diagrams show a ball in the hold valve but as i understand it that relates to TCU pressure that the 1690 does not have as such, only draft balance. This is not to say that the by pass screen and hold ball have not been removed --lost -But hydraulic...

1690 Hydraulics

Finally had a go at hydraulic valves, with wheel off and cab mount removed axcess was ok,use of a small suitable mirror gives a good view of valve caps i packed paper towels around valve body top so not to loose anything on valve removal, the cap on by pass valve was slightly loose so removed easily...

Re: 900 front axle surprise

Hi never actually seen it done maybe they did it on a mill with rotary table then threaded it, cant see how it could be done in a lathe but total axel could be bored out from behind and new one pressed in and welded at back more secure than trailer stubs that are only spot plug welded in. The firm t...

Re: 900 front axle surprise

Hi your thought on a new piece of shaft quality steel machined to suit is a good idea, why not remove old axel piece and bore right through stub axel and weld back end to old stub axel, could drill and pin as well if considered necessary. Road tandem trailer axels are just welded to tubes. Years ago...
