Thanks Powerrabbit the pinion teeth look larger on the big starters and different number being Lucas pinions may be changeable bolt pattern is the same i will check if there is enough clearance for the larger diameter not sure if there is .

1690 starter

Hi will a 1690 starter work on a 1494 the 1494 is past re bilding got a 1690 one looks the same but is larger diameter and different number of pinion teeth would the 1494 pinion fit the 1690 starter is not the Bosch long one on 1690t

Hi have used a 1394 on a NH 654 and was no problem making 6ft real heavy bales smaller tractor just go slower and make better bales

Checked drive shaft on 1394 and in 2wd has usual amount of movement when turned by hand one would expect on a front diff so 1690 has a problem in front diff dont think its crown wheel and pinion as it turns smoothly by hand ????

I was meaning turning the sheft by hand i dont think one should be able to turn it if front diff clutch pack and spider gears are ok will have to check my 1394 as 4wd is ok on it

Thanks for that information i think it must be the front diff as drive shaft turns when in 2wd if front end was ok it sholdnt

1690 noise

Looks like the noise i described in earlier post is FWD diff itock cover off front of drive shaftand in 2wd could turn shaft it turned smoothly but no resistance i see in diagram there is a clutch pack do they give trouble or is it more likely to be spider gears, it seems fine in 4wd when everything...

1690 noise

Hi got an unusal noise in 2wd only with 1690 rotating mechinacal noise can hear it in cab fine in 4wd could it be not quite disingaging when leaver is moved out of 4wd ? front drive shaft and cuplings seem ok any ideas ???? thanks

Powerrabbit It was a motor for sale have not seen the number myself just the engine number given in photo looks like cropmaster lower block frame but rotrary injection pump on motor is different maybe 900 block on frame or rotrary pump conversion ?

Hi has everyone found 90and 94 series temperature gauges usually show cold if they go to normal they are real hot put a tube type gauge on one of mine to show the real temp tried replacing sender and gauge with no change at all
