in the old 30c engine there appears to be no bearings in place and that the journals run in the block.
are you sure about this?

Re: 885 selectamatic

the tractor looks in reasonable order not bashed to death, looks like its slept out a lot, engine sounds ok tick over needs raising,do the hydraulics work, brakes ok ,and not a lot of slack in the steering, i think it has the making of a good tractor, there are lots of other things to pay attention but ...

Re: 885 selectamatic

apart from routine oils and filters especially the hydraulic filter under the top hat sump pan, make sure the gear lever gaiters are in good order, not split and hard, the 885 is a good tractor with some good features, sadly not quite as nimble as the 35x and 135 where you need to be on and off the trac...

Re: 880 started running rough

the db three potter is a very very good engine,i think that has been tight at some time, either too hot or no water,a light scotching ,hone bores a little fit new rings, make sure the ring grooves are clean and rings free, will give 2/3000 hrs of service!

Re: Problematic starter/solenoid engagement fixed.

you already have a relay /solenoid on the starter, but it will only get the voltage of the battery if the battery is low you will get a lower voltage at the starter! the extra relay will make more hassle and no difference to the starter !

Re: Problematic starter/solenoid engagement fixed.

I will have a look at the ignition lock to check the contacts as I will have a peek at the Bendix when I get the chance to drop the starter motor out. Might also be worth buying a 24v relay and...
