RE: Non David Brown Problem

Hi, I would have though that water / condensation in the hydraulic oil tank / system would soon lead to the mayonnaise effect where the oil becomes milky looking. If the oil remains clean then it appears there is little water in the system. It sounds like it could be a perforated pipe or airlock in ...

RE: Earth scoop

Hi, I think this place may be the best bet: http://www.vintagebrassplates.co.uk/ Many of the DB serial plates were fairly standard, see the following link (final photo): http://www.dbtc.co.uk/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=2212&highlight= The only difference may have been the TYPE and SERI...

Hi, this link may help:

I think DB made a special instruction book for tractors fitted with the flat deck console. I don't think many tractors were made with that arrangement.

RE: Case 1294 (1985)

The rear window would probably be solid (not sliding). Finding one with original type Kleber tyres would be difficult, as it would probably be in exceptional original condition. This would essentially be a tractor that has hardly been used.

I know it's a bit drastic, but if it seemed to be absolutely stuck, an option may be to remove the sump pan and have a look up with a torch to see how flared the pin is. It would be annoying to use such force as to damage the casting - which is probably unlikely, but probably possible. I think you c...

RE: Reduction ratios

The 1394 instruction book shows the ratios changing from 10/49 to 11/49 after serial number 11503001. The maximum speed is given as 24.3mph against 26.73mph on the same size wheels (16.9-30) giving a 2.5mph increase in speed. The CASE IH parts website shows the front axle changing after the same ser...

RE: Reduction ratios

Hi, I think the later 'red' tractors had the 11/49 (faster) reductions, I doubt any changes were made/needed to the front axle. Remember there was several different wheel options available so there would have been some margin to allow for this. The instruction manual lists the road speeds for differ...

Hi, this looks great. These roof are usually badly damaged and really spoil the appearance of a tractor. This looks like a 'painting the Forth bridge' job, but you have made a great job.

It is worth remembering that the CASE 580F has a DB engine/gearbox etc., but it a fairly rare machine in the UK.

RE: 770 Engine issues

I cant add much, but we once had a DB 770 that we replaced the firing rings on, after removing the dry liners. The head gasket leaked, so we remove the rings are gave their seat a darn good cleaning. I think this was the problem as it was cured. We have also done (3-cyl) tractors where the gasket ap...
