I can remember on my father's 1594 we had a issue with the linkages behind the 4 bolt cover on the right hand side of the cross shaft, from memory an arm had come off and the valve didn't know where the linkage was

Here is a breakdown of the valve chest, looks to have a ball in the plunger under the washer. Diagram is for a 1594

If it is connected as you say, it is impossible for the loader not to work and the 3pl to work unless it is something to do with your loader valve

Have you cleaned the other ends of the battery cables ? Also check the earth as some earth to the air filter frame then to chassis

Not to mention the ford porous blocks that seemed to go on for years! Although I would drive/own a Ford over a mf anyday, I think they were overrated

Yes it holds a lubrication pipe in to the side of the selectormatic valve. Hopefully the pipe will still be in place.

If it starts sometimes and not others I would say you have air getting into the system, most commonly found on the return pipe that runs between the injectors to the thermostart down to the tank. One way to try is to run it from a diesel container above the engine and leave it for a day or two then ...

It's a different block for the later models. You could have a engineer make an adapter plate but for something that gets changed probably less than once a year its not really a major

The small holes are to bolt the clevis on so that is the implement end. The other 2x inch holes are for moving drawbar right out or right in.
