Re: Leak in catch knob/ramshaft cover- 880 Implematic

The two centre bolts are going trough the rear axle and have nuts in front of the axle. The bolts can not be tighten from the rear but you have to tighten at the nuts while preventing the bolts from turning. These long bolts are keeping the lift cylinder and the rear cover in place, as are the two l...

Re: Oil Bath Air cleaner.

The Ops. Manual I have available says, "refill to the bead with clean engine oil". What is your problem? If you want to use the word "swedge line" in stead of the word "bead" used in the UK, please do so

Re: 1967 990 engine block

I thought that I would not make any more comment here, but I just can not keep my fingers of the buttons. You do not have to guess anything, there is a by-pass facility between the front of the cylinder head and the water pump suction side. This prevents overheating in hot spots of the engine during...

Re: 1967 990 engine block

I do not think there is any need for discussing this. Just do as the sealant manufacturer recommend, remove the thermostat as they have a reason for doing so.

Re: 1967 990 engine block

It will take ages for the thermostat to open when there is no or only light load on the engine. It is even possible that the thermostat will not open at all with no load on the engine. This is normal for David Brown engines when operated in normal UK temperatures.

Re: Gearbox leak.

Does your tractor have a 3-way valve behind your left foot when you are sitting on the drivers seat? If so, why do you have the feed to the tip connector open when the tip is not used? The 3-way valve can be lever operated or have taps to close and open. Please see the following links https://partst...

Re: 880 hydraulic problem

byronFriek, do not use other individuals postings for your problem. You must open a new topic for your problem. And then, I can not understand what you mean when you say "hydraulic rear trunk lid works well up and down, but it doesnt lock anymore when closed". Please open a new topic and attach a pi...

Re: 885 mystery part

Do you have the special tool (number 961796) shown on page 3 in the adjusting instructions? The ope4ning pressure for the shock valve in the valve chest has to be higher than the opening pressure for the main relief valve on top of the pump. If the shock valve opens with the pump pressure, then it l...

Just off interest, is there a front loader on the tractor? And if there is, what size is the loader and what is the weight of the counter ballast?

Re: 885 mystery part

I have a feeling that the valve chest relief valve is blowing off and it looks like the hitch is fully up. If you have had the valve chest apart, have you done all the settings and have you assembled the valve chest correctly, in the right sequence and with the accuracy required? It sounds like the ...

Re: DB Front Axle Problem -spindle/axle

It is against the law to repair a stub axle, as it is a part of the steering system. I would not recommend to do any repair to steering parts.
