My Chamberlain 9G (1965) is fitted with 18.4 x 28 rear tyres and I have the tyres filled with water and also wheel weights fitted. At times I operate on moderate slopes and this weight gives extra stability. With-out water in the tyres, I have traction problems under heavy loads (deep ripping for tr...

Hi Colin, I am located near Toowoomba, 120km west of Brisbane in Queensland. Very dry in our local area with less than half of our annual rainfall. Not involved in farming myself, my 70acres is too rough to do much with except run some cattle. At the best, about 15 cows with calves is the max it can...

RE: hydraulic pump

Hi Ted, In my experience as a diesel mechanic, I would not suggest swaping parts as existing mating parts would be worn in to match each other. By swapping parts, you could end up with excess clearances, high pressure points or total failure. If a pump fails big time and contaminates the hydraulic s...

DB crawlers

Needed:-
A few more photos of the DB range of crawler tractors on the net - compared to most other brands, they are noticable by their absence, particulally 40 & 50TDs

Probably sitting in the wrecking yards in 10 years time as the electronics will be obsolete and parts not available! Talk about a throw-away society.

RE: DB 50td

What is wrong with your old sprocket and would it be possible to build up the teeth? Cutting the outer section off and welding another ring on would be a good way to go. This is standard practice with older Cat machines with one piece sprockets and an after-market supplier such as Berco may have som...

50TD paint colours

I am currently rebuilding a MkII 50TD crawler and can anyone tell me what the usual colour is? Is it the standard David Brown red or industrial yellow? I have seen both colours used and mine looks like it was red.

50 TD tractors still in operation.

I am currently restoring a 50TD Mk11 here in Toowoomba, Queensland and wondering how many of the 470 Mk11 tractors built are still in existance. Going by their absence in forums and in magazines, there must not be too many still around. Has any-one made up a register for these tractors? Would be int...
