Re: 1690 engine substitute

Just one of the tractors was a TEA20 grey fergusson with a 302 Ford V8, a Ford 9N with a sidevalve V8 and some strange model with an alloy Rover V8. All had major surgery to make them fit but as mentioned how much engineering and cost do you take it to. Is it for the challenge to show it can be done...

Re: 1690 engine substitute

Ive seen 4 cylinder tractors with a V8 in them, so almost anything is possible but how are your engineering skills to do so?

Re: Need Source for Front Chassis Weights

It will be a case of searching all the tractor wreckers you can find and searching through all the auction sites as well. As these toys get older accessories get harder to find but by asking it is the very first step. Good luck with your treasure hunt. You may even have to adapt a different system f...

Re: 885 Fuel Line

Good to hear that you are up and running again. No matter what we tend to work on they all have their tricky bits to test us my last one was simply fitting the fan blade onto the hub while the radiator was in position. Easy you would thing but I forgot to clean the paint out of the threads didn't I....

Re: Case David Brown 885G/1 Gasoline Tractor

Get online to David Brown Spares and order a manual. This has al the answers you require as for setting up and adjusting the linkages etc. As for the misfiring you need to go right back to basics and start with new plugs, test your HT leads to ensure they are good from connector to connector, clean ...

Re: 995 valves

I too would take it to an engineering shop that does this work and let them do the job right the first time. They should be able to re-grind your valves unless they are too fat gone and re-do the seats. This is a quick and simple job for them to do so minimal cost involved.

Re: 780 hub seal / wheel bearing

That ring nut is fun to put back on aren't they! I did both sides on the 30C and did similar to the way you did yours. Early in the torquing up I also used a soft hammer against the outer flange to help bed the shaft into the bearings and that helped a bit too, then it was time to get serious and us...

Start spraying it with a product like WD40 to start the loosening process.

Re: Beware 1412 exhaust on ebay

Good luck with the long list of projects they all sound great.
Obviously it is a lesson learnt but having traded with them in the past and had been a good experience you would think if there was an issue they too would want it fixed and keep their reputation.

I too have found that Ebay will follow up complaints and get them sorted, well worth doing. Then do what has been done, name the offenders when it is a legitimate case.

Strip it down and clean it up and try it again. Take a lot of photos so you know where every part belongs.
