Cropmaster Restoration in Queensland nearly finished

I reached a big milestone this last week with the painting of our Cropmaster. A good friend has an auto restoration shop specialising in Austin Healeys near my home and he kindly let me use his spray booth which I think has improved the paint job outcome significantly. I am now doing the exciting bi...

Cropmaster generator to 12 volts?

Thanks for the replies. I will give this suggestion a try when I have the tractor a bit further advanced and report back in due course.

Cropmaster generator to 12 volts?

Our Cropmaster has the early 6v generator integral with the engine governor. So converting to 12v is not as easy as bolting on a 12 v generator. I have read that as long as the current load on the generator is kept low (ie no massive sound systems etc) that the hot rod boys in the USA just fit a 12v...

RAF VIG Governor setting

Odin The way it works is that rod A comes from the hand throttle lever and rod B goes to the carburettor butterfly. The Thrust button F is pushed out by the governor weights as the speed increases. F then acts on lever C which pushes rod B to close or open the throttle buterfly. Cam D is moved by ro...

TVO Mix

Thanks for the formula Powerrabbit-I am sure someone also posted this formula in my previous thread on kerosene running. Can you tell us how your tractor runs with this formula compared to petrol please? You mention the set up of the carburettor. The difference between the carburettor is as follows:...

TVO mix

Tom If you search my previous threads you will find some questions I asked about this and the answers. We had people who gave us recipes for home made TVO, people who remembered running on TVO in some bygone era. I dont recall anyone actually saying that they were actively running their Cropmaster e...

VIG Governor

I know nothing about VIG's except what I have read but they seem to have a VAK type engine ie same as a Cropmaster? When I bought my cropmaster someone had mucked around with the connections and I think it sounds like the same thing as happened to yours. The rod from the throttle goes directly to th...

You can upload photos by using the Add an Attachment buttonat the bottom of the post a reply page. Use the browse button to find the photo on your computer and then upload. Make sure the photo is not a giant file though. I dont think you will find a electronic manual. When I got my croppy I asked at...

30C Info

Matt Welcome to David Brown world. I have an 885 and a Cropmaster. I found the best and most usefull things are a parts book (the exploded diagrams are so useful) and an instuction book. There is a parts book on ebay at the moment in Australia but you may have to fight for it as it is original. You ...

Headlamp switch

Powerrabbit Here are photos of the switch on my cropmaster. I think this is fitted to the earlier VAK1c's? (I have seen the types you describe on slightly later tractors.) It only has two on positions so I presume it is for field lighting and my instruction manual says "S" is for the rear lamp and "...

DB Plough

Thanks Powerrabbit for your help. Yes I think you are right. I have a plough book for the earlier PU ploughs and they seem to use a slightly different code system. Tom I consider myself very lucky to have it and sorry there are not more to go round. The vintage plough match sounds good although I ma...

Cropmaster tank

Yes that filler pipe makes it difficult to clean out the front tank. I would do the following:- 1. Drain the tank and then flush with kero and drain again 2. There should be a brass mesh strainer in the top of the glass fuel bowl on the 3 way tap. Gently remove this and give it a good clean as well ...
