Horn on Implematics

Did Implematics come with a horn? Tracing the wires (on my 62 Imp 990) to the dynamo, there is a spare blue wire. The dynamo works, there is power to the lighting cable which runs front to rear. But there is an extra blue cable?

There are two types of clutch pressure plates, live drive and non live drive, as I found out when I could not get a pedal. Studied the diagrams of the clutch long and hard before it was obviously the wrong plate supplied.???

RE: 990 Implematic?

Welcome to the world of DBs and congratulations on acquiring a proper classic tractor. Definately sounds like a 990 Implematic. First thing to do with all acquisitions of a new "old" David Brown is to change the gearbox oil with fresh stuff , a 15/40 of 20/50 engine oil. Clean the gauze filter / str...

RE: Hyd problems 1210 case

Two initial points;- First you mentioned "hydraulic fluid"? Whilst it is a hydraulic system, the oil is NOT hydraulic oil. The oil in the system is from the gearbox which uses a 20/50 or a 15/40 oil. If a hydraulic oil has been used then that will be the cause of valves sticking in the chest. The "m...

RE: Request for info on 990

On a similar vain, I was studying my 1962 Red 990 which had been brush painted with a fresh red enamel paint that is now flaking off. The back of the driver seat was revealing a black patch. Scraping the red enamel off has revealed the original number plate that was professionally sign written when ...

Does any one know the thread size for the track rod ends for the 990 ? I am wanting to chase the internal threads with a tap. The 990 track rod I am trying to repair is a 1962 Imp, but I have some rod ends off a mid 1970s 990 and the threads are the same. Been to engineering shop today, both ex DB M...

RE: DB 885 Hydraulics: what next?

If the pump is good, (only way to check that correctly is with a hydraulic pressure/flow gauge). Then I would suggest that there is an internal leak between the pressure outlet of the pump and the spool valve ?
Could you try fitting a tipping trailer to the rear and see if the hydraulics will lift it?

RE: 885 hydraulics

Two problems I encountered doing this;- 1. Snott and rubbish blocking the valve on top of the axle at the right of the seat. Remove the 2 screws and plate and wind the right and valve out. Apart from there being a small gauze filter there is a very small orifice that just keeps blocking up. Mine did...

Sorry, got that one wrong, it is RIGHT of the steering column... Not driven it for 6 month, only been using my 990 which is left. Both tractors have the same 'T' piece hook - Pull to Start- unlike the Red Knob type thing in the photos. Wait one whilst I try to load a photo......

RE: 995 David brown hydraulic issues

I bought one that needed a new hydraulic pump because the previous owner (with a car repair garage) filled the transmission with hydraulic oil ? All my DB purchases get new oil because you just do not know how long the old stuff has been in there or what stuff is in there ?
Use 15w40 or 20w50.
