Going to do a half day of work on the Thursday, sack it then walk up into town to catch a train down ter' Zumazett. Return either Sunday evening or Monday morning. Got an ...

Old Motor Dealers Trick from the past before the internet, was to place way over the top adverts in broadsheet newspapers and classic car mags, usually with a London telephone number. A classic example was the E-Type Jag. Back in the late 70s' & early 80s', a few dealers around these parts ( all now...

Impressive, looks a very fine machine and well maintained. Also a few nice vintage tractors, did I see a Turner Yeoman there?

I'm off to the Meltham Drag Racing Pantomine, its that time of the year. If that dasterdly evil dooer Broadsword on his wacky cropmaster is claiming road speeds of 30mph, I'm going be shouting, "oh no it don't"! And "where is plod? "....... " He's behind you".... I might be the only one in the stall...

Also check the cooling system. If the thermostat is opening too early then the the engine will never reach its' operating temperature, the block cannot expand and the pistons will slap about and the rings cannot bed in. It doesn't just happen with tractors, older trucks with similar engines were the...

RE: David Brown parts - North America

Try Barcley Williams, adverts in tractor mags. All the parts that I've had from them come packaged from Case. What exactly are you after ?

RE: Has me beat.

not to sure about the 780, but on my 885 a similar problem was the feed pipe into the side of the valve chest (mentioned by Ollek). It is held in place by a bolt and lock nut through the casting under the right hand wing. The lock nut was not allowing the bolt to travel its full length to hold the p...

RE: 780 arms

Do I try and find the owner of this wretched machine to buy it as it is a breaker (unless some bod really needs a challenge to save the remnants). Tin work goosed, engine oil fillers open to weather, tyres perished but sat on four wheels. Time and effort to shift it ?

780 arms

I know that the above mentioned arms, links and adjuster box are like hens teeth. On a walk today I came across a dead 850. On enquiring I was informed that it has been there about 20 year. It still has the arms (and the odd other item). The arms and drop links look more narrow than 880/885 drop arm...

RE: DB 1212 rear window gas strut

Put SGS Engineering into your search engine. I have just purchased a pair for a commercial vehicle van body. I gave them the dimensions, paid and received them the next day (a UK delivery, not over seas). They are on an working fine. The struts need to be adjusted by releasing pressure to suit the a...

RE: 995 head gasket-how far to dismantle

If I can stick my nose in here. Nearly every tractor engine that I've been involved with has been cooling system related, and that always comes back to no anti-freeze (corrosion inhibitor), for some reason, many farmers just don't except the need for anti freeze in engines ? The result is a bright o...
