RE: Arrival

Did somebody say something? Sure I heard a squeak? There is some form of heat getting to the heater matrix in the cab roof, its the screen demister that I am looking forward to so that I dont make the wrong turn and end up on that terrible road over thuuurrrrr to Lancashire. Warm cab ..... never, it...

Arrival

One is pleased to announce the arrival of HEAT into my tractor cab. Its a 1978 'Q' cabbed 885, fitted with a wiper, heater demister and interior light. Of which none of it worked until now  All the coolant hoses were blocked with orange sludge. The heater matrix was blocked, the control tap u/s...

RE: very smoky

What colour is the smoke ? Black, White, Grey ? Won't be blue if 'not burning oil'.

RE: 950 implematic blow back

New thermostat in cooling system. good or fresh oil & filter . Plenty decent fuel (not super market rubbish or recycled frying oil). Then put it to work for at least an hour on something like a rotovaor with the engine at mid revs under load. Or a loaded trailer ? ? Mae the engine work. Soon bed pis...

Rear Hub Reduction

Am stripping the hub reduction on my 880E Imp. Now I have done this job before on other DBs with no problem, however, this one is proving difficult. I cannot release the hub nut. Tight is an under statement. Was there a special tool in the form of a large C' spanner to get some torque on to the nut?...

RE: rotovator

I have a 5ft Howard rotovator for my 1210 and that makes the engine work hard. The rotovator is more than capable of stalling the engine. Interesting calculation is 1hp/inch . Going on the width of a 780, does that mean it is incapable of operating a rotovator that will cover its own tyre tracks ?

RE: 885 misfire

I had a similar problem and found a bent push rod as the incorrect sequence had been used for setting the tappets. Also the air filter gauze was blocked which is why some bod did the valves in the first place to find the lack of power.

RE: DB Potato Spinner

Just been studying the share and the frame, it does appear to have a twist but I cannot be certain unless I get to see another. The 3 point linkage and gearbox are all mounted into a rectangle frame. When stood at the left hand rear, the share appears to point left. Considering that the share is mou...

RE: DB Potato Spinner

Having slept on the subject ...... (what am I like) ..... I think that the fault could lay with the share, because it must act like a tiller on a boat in water and in the same way on a plough. The share will steer or guide the implement as it is pulled through the earth. If the share is either un-cl...

RE: DB Potato Spinner

It has got the curtain / hem on. All the tines are there but have blue plastic water pipe which I suppose is a bit hard compared to a rubber sleeve. The parts manual could be helpful, cant do any harm, but The Operators Manual would be good. I'm sure it needs to be set up just like any other 'ground...

DB Potato Spinner

Any one got any experience with the old DB tatty spinner ? Acquired one last week for scrap price out of a bed of nettles. Spent a couple of hours on it this morning. Took the gearbox lids off and drained the water and dried crud out by turning it upside down. Scraped all the rubbish off, greased it...
