On the subjects of the small journal 4/55 cranks. Sure low oil will cause a spun bearing, but not a broken crank. All the broken 4/55s I have dealt with have been lugged just before or when it breaks(down into the 1400s or lower and working hard). I am convinced it is a harmonics issue. Remember Nik...

RE: 1000 rpm pto

1270s are 1000 only, no way to change it. One the big cases, 1000 PTO speed comes at 1900 engine RPMs, You would get your 540 at about 1100 engine rpms if you go the adapter route. It will make about 70 hp at that speed, and be perfectly happy running there. 1175, 1070, 970, 870, 770 have a reversib...

RE: Case to David Brown 990 Selectamatic rear end swap?

I always split at the front of the clutch housing if I can. Much easier to line back up.

Myself, I'd tear down the newer one and fix it. There is a decade of improvements/updates in that back end.

Where about in Ohio are you?

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: location of serial number on

There is no number stamped on the frame of the tractor and there was no plate on the cross box. The 900 ID plate was on the dash panel like the 25/30s. If the plate is missing it may no longer have any number at all. Thanks for that. It explains why there is no number on my 900. I stripped every in...

Does the charge light in the dash work? If the bulb is bad, it will not charge.

RE: Case 1494

The tires look right for the hours. Still the most I have seen asked for a 1494 by far. If It was a 4x4 it wouldn't be so bad, But I am really struggling with the price.

How can you tell it has air con from the picture???

RE: 1394 temperature sending unit

The kits from autozone usually come with an assortment of adapters, one of them generally fits. If you want to be sure, take out your old sender, and take it with you to a good parts store like NAPA or Carquest where they have knowledgeable employees, who can check what thread you need. As to the le...

RE: 1394 temperature sending unit

I just use a regular $20-30 Mechanical/capillary 2" round gauge from the Auto parts store. Most 90/94 gauge clusters here are shot, and a new one from Case costs more than what the tractors are worth.

As to the fuel filters... The /44 replacements I bough wouldn't work. More paper catalog research and talking with the people at the local diesel injection shop led me to the WIX 33114. They have proper gaskets, filter from the outside to inside, have the spout that fits up into the housing... http:...

governor spring placement on a 900D

Anybody know what holes to use on the DPA pump on a 900. The pump number I have is "R1937PA", and a large "Z" stamped as well. Which is dissimilar from all the codes on my later pumps which tell you fuel delivery, spring placement, max speed etc... This pump was "rebuilt" by the previous owner, but ...

Richbug, Try the following I' m fairly sure it may be this one, you can get them on e bay US, it's the Fram CH820 oil filter, they have a couple of large washers/rings at the end of the oil filters - these need to make a good seal at each end Thanks, I'll try that one if my first shot doesn't work....

RE: Filters for a 900 diesel

The 7111/296 is a direct replacement for the 7111/44 fuel filter? I don't see how the 296 will properly filter in these housings. The 296s that I have here have no provision to hold a seal of any sort where the filter meets the "clean" port on the housing(real CAV-Delphi, and WIX). They are made to ...
