Get a 2 watt, or maybe 3 watt bulb at a push (maybe the one thats already there ) and wire up to an ignition controlled feed to one side of the bulb.Connect the other side to the small terminal on the alternator, or the terminal marked IND.

Happened to our former one a few years ago but I drilled a hole near the bottom and got an airline connection welded up to it.Helps out the fuel pump as it doesn't have to work as hard trying to pull the fuel up from the bottom.Gravity does most of the work.Worked a treat. https://www.flickr.com/pho...

If I am not mistaken (which I may be), that "cylinder" is a gauze filter?

The cold start gets its fuel supply from the leak off pipe from the injectors.

Take off the wire from the sender on the tank and touch to an earth point, if the needle moves up to the top of the gauge, then the sender is faulty. If you have a multimeter with a resistance/ohm range, you could take it out of the tank and check to see if the readings change when you move the float...

It would be beneficial to test the thermostart out of the vehicle to be sure as described by powerrabbit above to confirm if its working ok.But maybe with the temperatures in your country, maybe all 3 devices would be needed, or maybe the TS would be enough on its own. You cant really test a thermos...

The thermostart is really just a mini blow torch/flame thrower.Element heats up, opens a valve to allow diesel in to produce a flame.

Example in vid below. This chap is using a timer but no need for that.

Where are you red? Parts are not too bad here in the south east anyway. There is at least one in Tipp, and you'll find ones in Wexford.Of course sparex will have parts for most makes of tractor including Db, but you cant buy from them direct. You have to buy stuff through a business.Porter trailers in...

Its fine powerrabbit, we all make mistakes. Thanks for all the info guys, these things seem to be like hens teeth. Most owners don't seem to bother changing these items.I have heard some have even used cut down copper pipes instead.Four would seem to be better than just two though. It wouldn't seem rig...

Thanks, just to be clear, these bushings are mounted on the tractor mounting holes that the trunnion pin goes through. Was given just two nylon bushings but it didn't seem right. It looked like the pin would not be supported right which confirms what you said PR. Great info.

1490 front axle trunnion bushings

I would like to know if there is supposed to be either 2 or 1 nylon bushings per hole in the two mounting holes for the trunnion pin that mounts the front axle to the tractor. There were none there at all, so need to replace them.

My first thought was the lift pump itself.Seen it apparently fail on our one, even though it appeared to be ok.Also check that the pin that drives the pump is actually operating the pump and its not worn or sticking. The issue with the glass jar not filling up sounds like a telltale sign of it, or th...
