This years Somerset Rally season spent wood sawing

This years rally season was spent with a group of us going from steam rally to steam rally running a wood sawing display. Possibly the best fun I've had doing rallies. In total I think we done 6, the set-up was an Allchin traction engine coupled to a Stenner and Gunn rack saw bench and a David Brown...

Dieter, you are indeed correct it is a Buhrer, and your also not the first to initially think it says Fuhrer :)

Yes everywhere smelt of a mix of steam, diesel, and paraffin. Just the way I like it, completed with a pint of beer or two.

RE: cropmaster brakes?

As above if you need excess force to just slow down then I would say you have a leaky oil seal and oily brake shoes. On my 30D you can lock the wheels with not all that much pressure. Mine used to be exactly as you described yours until I serviced the hubs and replaced all the seals.

Is the crank beyond a regrind? Liner kits are available, i can't see that all is lost with your original engine.

RE: 25d front axle bushes

I got my adjustable reamer from RDG Tools, they have an online shop. What i can't remember is which size i got. 1 3/16 is a cross over size, i will have a look for you. The web site is www.rdgtools.co.uk

Hope this helps.

Hurlimann ???
Not a Hurlimannm another clue it runs a Mercedes OM diesel engine. I only know of two in the uk. It is 1950's vintage with a 4 speed box and a splitter that you don't need the clutch for.

Nath, some proper looking original tractors you have there, that 30D and Cropmaster diesel are to die for in that condition not to mention the others - good to see a couple of Marshalls without the shiny paint job as well. The 30D picture with the words `the sun even came out for us on Sunday` woul...

Yes I enjoyed all that. The old green one has a Zetor look about it. A horsey stable who we supply conventional bales to has a very similar looking Zetor with a front loader. Being a 'Reg-Plate' spotter, YD is the old Zummerset plate ? It's not a Zetor but right sort of direction. To help it's Swis...

Private tractor and steam gathering.

Myself and a lot of friends have a yearly weekend long party usually around the Easter bank holiday weekend. The whole point is a fun working weekend, anything painted and looking shiny new would be a little out of place here. All of this takes place on the edge of Exmoor on the Somerset border Enjoy...

30D Ramshaft Bushes

Hello Folks, Has anyone ever replaced these, where did you get them from? I took the ramshaft assembly off of mine to see why it had so much play to find it only has 3 bushes in there, one obviously lost in action over the last 58 years. The shaft its self looks ok but the bushes are worn away. Thes...

Is there any bearing experts here? I've got new bearings for the above and the larger of the two bearings has more axial play then the old one I've taken out, whats considered acceptable play in these? Putting these new bearings in will probably make the wheel wobble more than it did. Everywhere on ...

Removing play from a 30D reduction hub

Sort of as per the title really, can wheel wobble on the reduction hub of a 30D be taken up or do I need to replace the bearings? If I do need replacement bearings where can I get them from, what are their part numbers and will I need any other parts (whats recommended while I've got the hub apart)?...

30D stub axle bushes

When I got my 1955 30D the steering was very wobbly, this was traced to warn bushes where the stub axle pivots in the axle. Sparex do a replacement bush kit for the following: 800 Series 850, 880, 885 90 Series 1190, 1290, 1390, 890, 990 900 Series 950, 990, 995, 996 94 Series 1194, 1294, 1394 part ...

RE: Some really basic question

Hmmm, not much response. :) Well the manual states: Engine: Shell Rotella Oil 20/20W 14 pints Transmission: Shell Tractor Oil 50 4 gallon Final Drive: Shell Tractor Gear Oil 140 2 pints So does this translate directly to: Engine: Any 20/20W Transmission: Any S.A.E. 50 Final Drive: Any S.A.E. 140 Che...
