Wheel Swapping Options

Hi I have a 990 running on 36 inch rims (12.4-11/36 Tyres), at a local sale there is a pair of decent 36 inch tyres (13.6-12/36) on what appears to be Ford centres. I have a couple of questions. 1. Will the Ford wheels fit onto the 990 in place of the originals. (Have my doubts) 2. Could I swap the ...

Hi
No need to buy new injectors, go to a good diesel workshop and get your injectors serviced. I did that for £15 each a couple of years ago. If one is beyond repair then they will sell you a rebuilt item.

RE: Engine Will Not Start - Plenty of White Smoke When Cran

Hi Rob Sounds like my tractor, it's getting old and can't quite get started so that even in warm weather it's best to use the cold start knob or thermostart. If you have either try them first. Another possibility is that there is air trapped somewhere because the tractor hasn't been used for a while...

Hi Here are a couple of the photos I took when I had to service my dump valve. Might help when looking at the exploded views. The second picture shows the valve that I think Powerrabbit is refering to. To lift it out take a clean round dowel tappered at the end and push it into the back of the valve...

RE: 990 PTO Clutch

Hi
First check the basics. Is the clutch pedal properly adjusted. I have attached a scan of the page from the user manual for a 73 990, but it should be the same for other models.

Hope this helps.

RE: Re: RE: CASE 580G – re-fitted with a non-original DB eng

Hi It might help if you could post a few photographs showing both sides of the engine block. Some fitting such as the oil filter and the tacho cable attachement changed over the years so it should be possible get an age and type of engine from seeing the fittings. The same block was used for a range...

RE: Explained Hydraulics Please.....Newbie

Hieght position sets the height for the arms. Usually used with things like transport boxes, buck rakes and anything that isn't in the ground. Draft is designed for implements pulled through the ground. There is a sensing link on the top link attachment point which reacts to the load, ie how hard th...

RE: Explained Hydraulics Please.....Newbie

Hi James On the left is the 3-Way output selector which has four positions from left to right. 1. Output 1 - Usually tipper outlet for cart. 2. Output 2 - Usually available for loader. 3. Lift Arms 4. Output 1 / Lift arms together (ie whichever operates mostl easily) On the right is the Up and down ...

Interchanging Gear Box Components

Hi I have a 1973 990 with the 12 speed gearbox. I think that I may need to replace some components soon. I would assume that I can swap bits from 990, 995 and 996 gear boxes of the same age but what about older tractors and other 12 speed gearboxes. Can any of them be used for spares or swapped whol...

RE: Small tipping trailer

Addi The dump valve is the round knob (1/2 inch dia. 3 inch high) directly behind the lift handle. It might be stiff if not used for a while but push down, turn quarter turn and lift a few millimeters. This lets the oil return from the trailer quicker. However even with this valve in the down positi...

Hi Oz
If you check the FAQ section on the the left hand menu and refer to item number 7 you will be able to find the serial number.

That should help.

RE: New 990 owner with a problem

Hi It doesn't matter which gear range your in, hydraulics should work in all gears as long as the engine is running. The lift arm lock that Odin mentions is one possiblity but there is also a 3 way valve on the left hand side of the seat that could be directing the oil pressure to the outlet instead...

990 Front Wheel Bearing Kit Choice

Hi There are two types of front wheel bearing kit available for a standard 990. K262214 which has the inner bearing diameter 3mm larger than the outer bearing. This was the later type. K962985 which has two identical bearings to fit a 35mm spindle. This was the earlier type. Without dismantling the ...

RE: Cannot engage PTO with implement attached

Hi It may be that you have already checked the clutch pedal adjustment and you can ignore this but if not I had exactly the same problem as you and it was cured by following the procedure set out in my 990 manual which also applies to 995's. See attached image from the manual. In my case only step B...

Not DB but possibly of interest

Hi While walking on the west coast of Scotland near Skye I came across a couple of pieces of equipment that I though might be of interest. The first is a old tractor with a winch added and used to operate a loader. I have no idea what model of tractor is shown in the picture, but I'm sure some of yo...
