Cheers again , I think I’ve pretty well cleaned all terminals and the the battery is putting out correct reading.its a good point that the terminal screws can penatrate copper wire , in the past I have made half round strip from 15 mm copper pipe to place between the two screws and the copper cores ...

Hello, I have a 68 selectamatic 880 with a lazy starter, I have cleaned all relevant cable connections but think it’s time to overhaul. I’m a competent mechanic but haven’t overhauled a starter before. I’m assuming il clean commutator grooves replace brushes and generally check and clean ? Can I hop...

Hi db2d, I asked a moderator to remove the duplicate as it was above my technical skill level, but I heard nothing back? Do you know how I delete it? Also the point I was making was a good quality set of vice grips shares the load on the stop tang. Cheers rich

Hi David, I removed the backnut today , not too bad , easing oil for a couple days but the best tip is to let the throttle round to its stop on column but also put a good quality set of vice grips directly under the nut on the shaft thus halving the force on the shaft stop tang it feels much more po...

Hi , I’m hoping to overhaul my dash panel and clocks at Christmas and doing some investigation the back nut on the throttle stem appears tighter than the stem could cope with. I’m guessing easing oil over the next week and a little heat will help , oh and patients🙂. Anything else I need to know woul...

Thanks for reply’s chaps, I have a dB frame but can’t get in low shed with it, the siroco frames come down and into the back of the axle so was hoping to adapt square type mudgaurds? Cheers rich

Hi Kev, I’m currently on the same issue, with help from this forum, I replaced the suction o ring at pump end with a 3.5 mm section o ring . The actual dB part is something like 3.62mm and as I haven’t cured the problem I’m shortly going to fit correct dB recommendation.i may also replace the oil se...

Hi Ian , yes I did give dvla the chassis number and engine number and the reg number but was unsure of the first digit as the tax disc was stained with diesel but I must of had mr grumpy . I think I know the first digit now so perhaps I will try again. Cheers rich
