Oh yes, I remember that. Hope all is well with you Erkki. Or at least as well as it can be during these troublesome times. Take care and best wishes to you all.

Re: 990 Selectamatic Gearbox, how noisy is too noisy?!
The OP hasn't said if his tractor has the 6 speed or the 12 speed box. I bought a new 990 12 speed in 1967, kept it for 5 years and put 9000 huors on the clock. Had to have 3 new boxes in it during that time. All carried out under warranty by DB. They knew that particular box was a lousy box, such ...

Re: stop cable on the red 770
I think we are in danger of misleading the original poster in this topic. The stop control on a red 770 came up through the dash panel, as can just be about be seen in the photograph below taken at a show 10 years ago. The same arrangement is fitted to my own red 770. The clock was also very differ...

Re: 885 Three Point Latch Weight Limit?
You have a problem with the hydraulics if the links will not stay up for several hours with the engine stopped. Of course most hydraulics didn't drop when everything was brand new and people were playing around in workshops, field test departments and factories. But get out into the real World, whe...

Re: 885 Three Point Latch Weight Limit?
A little story if I may. I was once driving through Kenilworth to do some ploughing just outside Coventry with a 990S and a Ransomes TS82 2F reversible plough on the back. Suddenly the timing gears crashed and of course the engine stopped. Now I had to get towed home, a distance of some 5 miles, ba...

Re: 990 selectamatic colours
I have to apologise here, I made a clumsy mistake with my posts and photographs and so I would like to rectify the position. The first photo. shows the red 880 Selectamatic. There is no doubt about that, the decals can be clearly seen. However, the second photograph, to which I added the incorrect ...

Re: 1390 Mechanic?
The trick here would be to do a bit of work with the tractor, even a road run would help, to get the oil and everything warmed up. Your linkage should then lower faster even without anything on the linkage arms.

Re: Red 880 Selectamatics
And it gets even more bizarre. The 3 cylinder engines had ENGINE serial nos. from 1012 to 651o. But that's only 5,498 tractors. It would be interesting to know if this tractor had the 3 or 4 cylinder engine in it and what the engine serial no. is.[/color][/b] I think they used the same engine numbe...

Re: Red 880 Selectamatics
Assuming the pics you posted here viewtopic.php?t=18452 are from the same show as the one above, and are both of AFO 416C, then it looks like a 3 cylinder with the starter on the left?? Yes, all photos. taken of the same tractor from the same show which was at Shrewsbury. It is just possible that t...

Re: Red 880 Selectamatics
Well that gives the OP the answer that implematic serial numbers were used. The club web site lists the 880 implematic second series serial numbers running from 521001 to 527521 giving a run of 6520 tractors from 1964 to sept 1965. Dont know when in 1964 the second series started but the serial num...

Re: Red 880 Selectamatics
As displayed at the Shrewsbury Show. Ownership information and Exhibit No. redacted. There doesn't seem to be any serial numbers listed for the red 880S like there are for the red 770S.Perhaps because so few of them were released ? EDIT In the official listings the 880 Selectamatic serial nos. start...

Re: David brown 1410
According to the spares books for the 1410/12, 1690/1690T, and 1694 if you wish to change the size of tyres then you need to change to the relevant rim AND the corresponding centre (dish). In the early days MF wheels would fit because they were made by the same company (Sankeys of Wellington) but I...

Re: Front End Loader - Support Stand used when removing.
Sorry Alan, I completely forgot about the rams !! I think I used to put the lever into the down position while taking the loader off (would be neutral position if they had been double acting rams), take the pins out and lower the rams from the loader frame and temporarily rest them on the front axl...

Re: Front End Loader - Support Stand used when removing.
Hello Alan, I hope things are as well as they can be with you all. I once had a DB loader on a 990S but traded it in during 1972 and I have no images of my solution. So I have had a play with Photoshop and hope you can understand what my solution to your problem was. Basically I got hold of a bit o...

Re: Early 1412
Slight correction there Ollek. 1212 production started in August 1971 with serial no. 1000001. The first 1210 tractor went down the line in December 1971 with serial no. 720001. Power Red came in for the 1212 tractors at serial no. 1002222, around September/October1973. Power Red came in for 1210 t...
