Re: DB885 Thermostart

Appears this was the cause of my "Engine Clatter" and "Starting Difficulties" threads. Thank for all of your help!

The old injectors had carbon build on the tip but I don't no how long they were in there?? One injector was fairly hard to take out! The other two slid out handy enough.
So...did you not remove the fourth injector? If not, why?

DB885 Operating Temp?

IMG_1627.JPG Just curious, what would be the correct reading for the temp gauge during moderate work? The above pic shows what my temp gauge reads. It never goes into the red, but always sits on the line. The coolant is full, clean, no air bubbles and no leaks. The engine never seems to be hot, nev...

Re: DB885 Thermostart

"Wiring connection locations", please explain. The connections haven't been changed from the factory.

Would this fault also cause fuel to be introduced continually into the intake manifold?

Re: DB885 Thermostart

So this leads me to my next question, how do I remedy it? What's causing it to remain "on"? It's it a faulty switch? A faulty Thermostart? How do I go about finding out?

DB885 Thermostart

Yesterday, while tinkering with the tractor, the fuel switch cable broke and became stuck in the "on" position. I had to climb off the tractor, and inadvertently left the key on. After a couple minutes, I noticed smoke coming from the Thermo plug, meaning it was still on. Is this normal? In my mind ...

Re: David Brown 995

This picture picture looks a lot more like a $2000 tractor than the first one! In my area the old DB tractors don't sell very fast so you could probably negotiate a better price especially if it needs any work to be functional. Yep, my original question was mainly about the paint scheme and what ye...

I have a chance to buy one, with an FEL for $2000USD. Has sat for "a while" and hydraulics wouldn't work when started. I've yet to see the tractor.

Whattaya think?

Re: DB885 Engine Clatter

Check the thermostart for fuel leakage into the manifold. Do this by either disconnecting and blanking the fuel supply or removing the unit and running the engine. Where would one find the Thermostart on the engine? I've read through my Instructions booklet & my IT manual and neither are very speci...

Re: DB885 Engine Clatter

If the cold start is stuck in the starting position (screwed in), then the misfiring will be worse when the engine revs are increased. Higher revs will not clear the running if the screw is in start (wrong position for running) position. The cold start screw locks the automatic injection advance in...

Re: DB885 Engine Clatter

Sounds like a tractor that have not been correctly serviced for quit a long time. Well...I'm not sure that's the case. As I've said, it's sat for the majority of it's life in a barn w/ little use. Actually, about an average of 20 hours a year! I've put 20 on it myself in 2 months. If I keep the thr...

Have the fuel injectors ever been serviced?
Don't know, I've had it a little over 2 months.

What does that entail?
