Re: Correct gearbox/hydraulic fluid for 1964 DB 990

Out of interest, as you say, early models left the factory with SAE140 in the reduction units but later models like the 90 and 94 series used EP90. Was this down to any fundamental changes in the reduction units or was it advancements in the lubrications technology?

Re: 1394 cab rot

Things are defiantly bad, after reading a thread the hear the of the day about the lift arms only going half way down, I realised I had a probloem I didn’t know I had. So I was freeing off the lowering speed control and while leaning on the inner wing I almost went though! Would anyone know ware I m...

1394 cab rot

I have known for some time that I’m going to have to look at sorting the cab in the 1394 sooner or later. It looks like sooner is coming round faster than I anticipated. I was out turning some hay, well wet grass, this weather is also not going well and I hit a rut in the field. The windscreen decid...

Ware to mount loader joystick in a 1394

I am going to be fitting a cable operated joystick in the 1394 for the loader. Looking for ideas as to the best location to mount the joystick, so as not to interfere with other controls. Ideally it would mount ware the gearstick lives but for obvious reasons that’s not possible. The only location t...

Re: 1394 3 point hitch, no height control

Ok just been out having a play in the dark, I removed the ram shaft cam follower and bracket. This gave just enough access to get my fingers round to the top of the selector fork and as you suggested the top of the for is broken. While in there I can move the selector fork easily and can feel the 3 ...

Re: 1394 3 point hitch, no height control

As far as I can see, the only thing that moves is the rod comeing down from the selector switch, the selector switch has about 1/3 of a turn of free movement before it hits a hard stop each way. I’m going to have a better look tonight, if something is broken inside, is it possible that I could manua...

Re: 1394 3 point hitch, no height control

Ok I have removed the cover and just wanting to make sure how to proceed before I end up loosing bit down into the gear oil. 5BC6472B-62FC-4E38-BB3E-9F0F960EF22C.jpeg Am I correct in thinking, if I remove the 2 bolts and the extension spring on the right the assembley will lift out giving access to ...

Re: 1394 3 point hitch, no height control

The r clip is in place so I will have to look inside, is the cover with the oil filler on the best access?

Re: 1394 3 point hitch, no height control

When I turn the selector switch it doesn’t seem to do anything, as if it isn’t attached to anything inside the gearbox.

Looks like i will have to go in for a look, is it possible to access this if I remove the cover with the oil filler in it?

1394 3 point hitch, no height control

Finally got the 1394 to the point it’s ready for work and now found another fault. I have hitched the post knocked up and I don’t have any control over the height of the linkage, if I move the control lever to the select position the linkage will lift to the highest position. Then if I move the cont...

94 series window rubbers

I am trying to fit a new lower rear window to my 1394, I’m trying to fit an aftermarket glass with aftermarket rubber as I belive the original rubber are no longer available. I can get the glass installed but it pushes back out easily, is there a particular way to do it or is the aftermarket rubber ...

Re: 1394 oil pressure

Ok just been and bought a pressure gauge and the results are better than I expected, much to my relief.

With the engine warm, ran for 15 minutes at 1500 rpm the readings are:

42psi @ 500rpm

52psi @ 1000rpm

54psi @ 1500rpm

55psi @ 2000rpm

57psi @ 2200 rpm

Also what is the correct idle speed?

1394 oil pressure

The 1394 saga continues, I had what I thort was a faulty oil pressure switch, I replaced this and all seemed ok, but although the old unit was faulty it hasn’t fully solved the probloem. Now when I start the tractor the oil pressure light goes out but once warmed up it will flicker and come back on ...

Re: First start on recon engine 1490

First, before you start the engine you should turn the engine over with the engine stop out until the oil pressure light goes off. Then I would check for oil circulation particularly at the turbo, before you attempt to start the engine for the first time.
