Re: Removing the 1412 steering wheel

We used a bearing puller with some bits of steel to act as load-spreaders to avoid damaging the wheel.

Re: 885 Tachometer

I had the same with an agriline bit, engine end was about 1/4" oversized, bodged it with a nylon bushing for a short term fix.

Re: Confused by warning lights.

Yeah, just over 4000 hours on the clock, with probably another 100 or so with me. She's definitely been reasonably well looked after for a good bit of her life. Interesting thing is the V5 lists 2 previous owners, so suspect she was bought new and registered in 1974, went back to a dealer in 1979 (a...

Re: Confused by warning lights.

Well, it's been running fine for just over a year with me with no major issues, I'm not about to panic because I plugged a light back in.

Of course, you're absolutely right that it does need a proper looking at, but I'm not gonna flap for the sake of it.

Re: Confused by warning lights.

As Rid54 said, my assumption is that everything is working, as until there's oil pressure, the light is off, once the engine is running, the light comes on. So it's working as expected, just with the light on when it should be off (and off when it should be on) As such, until the switch appears in t...

Re: Confused by warning lights.

I'll definitely have a look for a gauge when I have an hour, need one for another acquisition anyway.

Re: Confused by warning lights.

Thanks both, that was my assumption.

If the light is on, it has some oil pressure at least, so that's good.

Confused by warning lights.

Right, I've been through my 1212 with a set of crimpers and a pocket full of cables, and everything now works as god intended. (Almost) When the engine is running, the Engine oil warning light (green) comes and stays on (But not until the engine is running) the light also comes on if I unplug it fro...

Briefly- The canister type was a full flow system with a built in pressure relief mechanism that ensures that the engine is not starved of oil if the element becomes blocked.
Would that be the spring and assorted gubbins?

Re: wiring looms

On the 1212 I took the steering wheel and bonnet off, gave me enough room to wiggle the dash up and clear. not massively easy, but left me in a position I could get her running if I needed to in a hurry.
